Is it the end of daily showers

I tend to shower about 4 times a week with all but one including a hair wash. Dove bar soap.
In the summer I am more likely to shower daily.
I use a 96% natural shampoo bar and all natural conditioner (refill).
I've experimented with less hair washes, didn't work well.
Someone on another thread lectured about only using a tiny dollop of conditioner - no good for my hair length and texture!
I use a strong deodorant designed to be used once a day at first then a couple times a week. Being a previously heavy sweater it's worked absolute wonders but I still need to use it every day, as the sweating creeps back if I reduce the use.
I never smell, consider myself on the fastidious end of the spectrum and am perfectly happy with my personal hygiene.2 -
Gravity rainfall shower owner here. Direct from the bath taps so temperature is a bit fiddly. No electricity used therefore. It's too cold to spend 10 mins in my bathroom, even with the gas central heating on, because I have to have the window open. No extractor fan. I'm female with a non physical job. I don't shower every day in winter . Wash face, pits in the sink. Bits with a feminine wipe 😉1

Wipes, whatever they are meant to be cleaning, are single use plastic and best avoided if at all possible, there's a reusable cloth that can do the same job.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Solar PV 5.25kWp SW facing (14 x 375) installed Mar 22
Lux 3.6kw hybrid inverter and 9.6kw Pylontech batteries
Daikin 8kW ASHP installed Jan 25

So many people think its the soap/shower gel and then spend more on moisturiser , when its the water stopping your skin. I know when Ive had a shower, I can rip my skin apart from the itchesSpoonie_Turtle said:My skin certainly felt the difference going from daily showers to every other day. Hard water is not kind to skin.

Not all wipes are single use plastic. There are wipes that don't contain plastic at all.Alnat1 said:Wipes, whatever they are meant to be cleaning, are single use plastic and best avoided if at all possible, there's a reusable cloth that can do the same job.Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -
My word. Never thought a simple wash could be considered expensive or complicated! 🤣0

What's a bath???
We've only used showers for the last 30 years (personal preference for both of us, and we got the kids into it as soon as they were out of baby baths so they only do showers too as adults), and even with Mrs. G-J's hair-washing never been an issue in terms of cost, not even now. Things would have to get substantially worse before we had less showers, especially in the hot weather.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Plus using a reusable cloth uses up more energy (body energy), say that person has to turn on the tap, wet the cloth, turn off the tap, then use a cloth that is now heavier than a wipe._Sam_ said:

Some people are that severely limited by illness that water wipes are possible but anything more isn't, because they simply don't have the energy.
I myself am disabled and environmental concerns are a big priority for me, however the needs of my health occasionally come first and the environmental concerns come second.1 -
May I ask which one you use?KxMx said:!

It really depends how you heat your hot water.Qyburn said:What do people reckon is the cost saving from a shower every two days, versus every day? Worst case I guess would be for an electric shower.
And by the way, how many on here don't shower anyway, preferring a bath?
For us 3 days less heating the hot water tank with our ASHP will save 6-7kwh a week of electricity so 312kwh-364kwh.
In Pounds and pence terms for the year £91.23-£106.43 but we are on a lower fix that the EPG if we were on the EPG that would be £109.20-£127.40
I would save worth considering and suspect for others the cost savings could be more.0
