Are 1p mobile any good?
Background, I need to change, currently with Sky but I no longer get a signal at home and in spite of my phone being capable and sky saying they enable it, I have never got wifi calling to work, so I am out of communication at home.
EE have coverage here, but their packages are too expensive. I am looking at 1p mobile using the EE network and claiming to offer wifi calling. So my thinking is to get the cheapest PAYG sim mainly as a trial to see if it actually works and see if wifi calling actually works (if that does signal coverage at home is much less important) If it does all work, then port my number over and increase to a pay monthly deal.
What are others opinions?

Really depends on your usage.Their standard model (1p) is great if you use your phone irregularly, a lot some months but not much other months. You have to topup £10 every four months or you get disconnected. Packages are available but probably not the best value out there.On the technical front ee is a tick, 5g a tick, and WiFi calling a tick.What is your usage pattern? Mins/texts/data0

I have 1p mobile and wifi calling works fine. Their boosts are reasonable value too, you can pay monthly for those (set them to auto renew) if you want. They're probably cheaper than most contracts whatever your usage as long as you choose the right boost.

All thesr smaller virtual operators run on ee. Some will be 4g not 5g though for now.Being honest for a moderate user the nowmobile £2.50 for 3 months offer is probably the best around, but worth considering rwg £3.50 long term price.Rwg give you a free allowance each month when you do an initial £15 topup, and for this month they are doubling topups. So you could topup £15 then use your credit to buy 8 months of bundles, working out under £2 per month.0

I don't use much, presently paying £6 to sky for unlimited calls and text and 2GB of data that I never use, so the £5 per month to 1p for unlimted text and calls and 1GB of data will do and i can buy more data if there is a rare occasion I need it.
It is more about getting something that works now that O2 don't seem to deliver a mobile signal to our home any more, and Sky have been unable to get wifi calling to work.0 -
I'm with Plusnet thats on EE £6.55 month unlimited calls and text plus 3GB data, I have used 1p mobile and it was fine, better if all your calls are incoming0

Sounds like the rwg free bundle is worth a go. You can order a free sim here;Then if it gets a signal and receives calls topup £15 and pay nothing ever again 100 mins, 100 texts, 750mb data each month before your balance starts being charged. 5g and WiFi calling on the way.0

@ProDave.
May not actually be around/work for ever, but as long as it last longer than 3 months, break even. Albeit no WiFi calling currently with RWG.0 -

I am not expecting it for free, and the wifi calling has become a must have so I will give 1p a try.
The RWG might be an interesting choice for a spare phone I have that is used mainly as a small tablet not a phone. So for next to nothing I could occasionally use it's phone functions.0
