lauratu said:Just wondering if there are still people wearing aprons for eating in order to keep stains and spill away from clothes, or is that too old fashioned ?When I was a kid most of us in the village had an apron or tabard at all meals. As an adult I have kept that habit and also made it a rule for all my kids.Today my second eldest said they are the only teens in the world who have to wear aprons when eating.1

This brings up visions of Ena Sharples and Hilda Ogden.
I think if I was one of your teenage children, I'd push back.
And refuse to wear an apron to eat.

My granny used to wear one of those wrap around aprons most of the time. Wonder if you can still buy them?
My other grandmother wore a smaller apron. The kind that only covered from the waist down. She used to make them out of old dresses.0 -
This is gonna sound a bit snitty but what about putting less on your fork and opening your mouth wider…?I had a hen who could count her own eggs - she was a mathemachicken.10

Yes I do. You can guarantee if I don't then I'll spill down my front. It's much easier than having to change my top after every meal.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I went out today wearing a jumper with toothpaste all down it.
Op - what would you suggest? During the summer its not too bad, I can be naked whilst brushing, but not only is it cold right now, towels take ages to dry unless I use the tumble and I cant afford that.So tips on keeping toothpaste off the clothes and towels clean enough to last 3 or 4 days ( we dont share) Id love to hear0 -
I use an apron to cook with to protect my clothes against oil splatters etc.
Sometimes I wear an apron and have a cotton napkin when eating tomato based dishes eg spaghetti bolognaise and a curry, particularly if I am wearing a light coloured top.For all other meals I have just have a napkin. If we have guests then I always take the apron off.We always eat at the table. (Did when we were young too.My mum bought a gadget in France where there was a chain and two clips that you attached to your napkin, so it would cover your front.I was reading the other day that the etiquette for wearing a napkin is that it should be at waist level and when it is placed on your lap or removed it should not be flapped around about waist height (if you are doing it yourself. Also, you should not remove the napkin off the table and onto your lap until the host does). Of course any well to do restaurant, the waiter would remove the napkin and place it across your lap.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

We all get dinner badges from time to time. But not that often than an apron is needed. Wouldn't a napkin be better?
Aprons are for cooking.1
