This saves the need for extension cables as you only need one plug socket for up to 4 devices (a lamp + up to 3 usb charging points)“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. I hope you picked it up!!7 -

GaleSF63 said:This is mainly applicable if you live by yourself. If you have to use an iron before you go to work unplug the iron and carry it into another room. Switching it off can be so automatic that you don't remember doing it and it can bug you on the journey but you will remember moving it. I once was about an hour late for work because I had to turn round and go home and check - it was switched off of course. My colleagues - all male - thought it was hilarious but my boss (male) had to do the same thing a few months later.
I've got a timer plug thing that the iron is plugged into so that if I forget to switch it off, the timer will run down and do it automatically. Somebody on a previous thread mentioned it so I bought one.

My iron turns itself off if it hasn’t been moved in a while but that’s not something I’d want to rely on.
I turned slightly more to letting creases drop out of their own accord which seems to work for a lot of things but not shirts unfortunately. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.9 -

my tip isn’t money saving, but time saving, so time is money as they say 🫣 sorry if it’s been mentioned before.
I always fold the freshly laundered bedding and pop the sheet, duvet cover and all but one of the pillow cases into the remaining pillow case. That way, the next time you change the bed, you have all of the ‘equipment’ to hand and it’s easier to find it all 😊
also, my (adult) kids think I’m bonkers, but I’ve always laid out my (and the kids when they where young) clothing out the night before, so I just grab, wash and go in the morning, I start work at 7am, and most certainly am not a natural morning person, so it saves a lot of is this black or navy type issues first thing 🫣
I painted an old kitchen chair for each of the kids rooms when they were little - this is where their school uniforms where placed in the evening, with their school shoes underneath and PE bags/school bags sorted and ready to go - I couldn’t be doing with ‘Mummmmmmm, where’s my PE shorts’ first thing in the morning before coffee 🤪
My (essential) coffee to go paraphernalia is also prepped ready to go in the morning, the machine cleaned and filled the night before, with my travel mug, washed and waiting. The kids lunches would be prepped and packed the night before, and the days main meal at least part prepped the night before too (all obs in the fridge).
I don’t know if that makes me a control freak, but I know I have time in the evenings before bed and HATE mornings xJust a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!12 -

I have been decorating (seems like for weeks). Wallpapering I use a small roller and a small brush to do the edges. I weighed the paste in a mug and found it really useful for my brush when I was doing the edges especially up the ladder.8

I used to do the duvet and sheets into the pillowcase method, but now, having got tangled up inside the cover once too often - I'm only five feet tall - I have reverted to top sheet, fleece blankets and a pretty, lightly padded, bedspread. It's easy to adjust to the weather, and fleece is so much lighter than traditional wool blankets, if you can find them at affordable prices any more. They're easier to wash, too.
I love the idea of colour coded children, and laughed in sympathy for the lady who can't deal with pink now.
If I had children at home, I would pinch that idea! It's brilliant, and your mum is a clever lady!11
