socks - pair, flatten so heal, toe is flat then fold into 3, bottom up, top down
tshirts - from shoulder to bottom fold a third in, same the other side, fold into 3.
Bedding, as previously stated, all folded in a set and popped into remaining pillow case.
tea towels - folded lengthwise x 3, then again into 3.
dresses folded from underarms down (around a third) then fold lengthwise into 3, half or into thirds depending length
anything [rare) that need ironing folded into quarters as flat as possible, placed into laundry for pressing.
told you I was sad 🤣🤣

my tip isn’t money saving, but time saving, so time is money as they say 🫣 sorry if it’s been mentioned before.
I always fold the freshly laundered bedding and pop the sheet, duvet cover and all but one of the pillow cases into the remaining pillow case. That way, the next time you change the bed, you have all of the ‘equipment’ to hand and it’s easier to find it all 😊
also, my (adult) kids think I’m bonkers, but I’ve always laid out my (and the kids when they where young) clothing out the night before, so I just grab, wash and go in the morning, I start work at 7am, and most certainly am not a natural morning person, so it saves a lot of is this black or navy type issues first thing 🫣
I painted an old kitchen chair for each of the kids rooms when they were little - this is where their school uniforms where placed in the evening, with their school shoes underneath and PE bags/school bags sorted and ready to go - I couldn’t be doing with ‘Mummmmmmm, where’s my PE shorts’ first thing in the morning before coffee 🤪
My (essential) coffee to go paraphernalia is also prepped ready to go in the morning, the machine cleaned and filled the night before, with my travel mug, washed and waiting. The kids lunches would be prepped and packed the night before, and the days main meal at least part prepped the night before too (all obs in the fridge).
I don’t know if that makes me a control freak, but I know I have time in the evenings before bed and HATE mornings x
On the night before my Highland Clearances commute once every week/fortnight (we need to leave at 6am to get me to my depot for 8am) I set out the clothes, make the pieces for the next day, set up the coffee maker etc. Means it's just a case of hitting the start button on the coffee, chucking the lunches in a cool box and falling into the car with Mr Z and the hound13 -
This is mainly applicable if you live by yourself. If you have to use an iron before you go to work unplug the iron and carry it into another room. Switching it off can be so automatic that you don't remember doing it and it can bug you on the journey but you will remember moving it. I once was about an hour late for work because I had to turn round and go home and check - it was switched off of course. My colleagues - all male - thought it was hilarious but my boss (male) had to do the same thing a few months later.15

The best trick for ironing is not to do it.20

I once had to call my landlord and ask him to go into my flat to check I hadn't left the iron on - I was about to board a plane to Australia for a four week holiday! 🥴16

I no longer iron stuff I just can't be bothered to be honest and my right arm isn't good for lifting much anyway .As i live mainly in tee shirts etc and jeans its not a problem and I actually gave my iron away to my DGS when he stared his new live in job at a boarding school as his accommodation didn't have an iron and he likes his shirts to look smart when he's teaching
Life's far to short to waste ironing stuff, it goes on a hanger and once worn rarely shows any wrinkles ,but then I'm retired and can please myself what I wear

When my brother got married years ago, his new wife said to him, where's the iron? He said, it's in the cupboard. She found the iron and then asked "where's the plug?" to which he replied... "Um, it's on the stereo!"Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!17

Small = socks/underwear/baby clothes
Medium = t-shirts/trousers/tea towels/hand towels
Large = Bath towels and bedding
Let me explain:
Washing items by size means that you have less sorting to do. Instead of spending ages untangling socks from trousers or digging t-shirts out of duvet covers, everything is roughly the same size and easier to sort, dry, fold and put away.Option 2: Reduce your wardrobe to capsule size - one for work and one for home. It massively cuts down on washing to put away.Option 3: After option 2, if you find folding & putting away clothes too much effort, just buy a large laundry bin large enough to hold most of your clothes when folded and just put your washed clothes in there. Mentally, folding is less effort than folding + putting away.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A.
