I have another somewhere but I don’t know what my OH did with it (it was on his side of the bed & he HATES what he calls “unnecessary bed cushions” so he chucked it somewhere 😂)No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
My DD is doing my main washing for me at the moment as bending with a drain attached to my tummy is a bit difficult at the moment but I do a very short 30 minute wash for underwear etc and its always lower speed but with the good weather it doesn't matter as it dries so quickly. She doesn't mind me doing the short wash as she knows it only light things ,whereas the main wash has heavier stuff and lifting is a bit of a problem until I have my op. hopefully towards the end of July.
Daft as it seems I'm actually looking forward to being able to do it all myself again

Great thread ! 🙌
my tip isn’t money saving, but time saving, so time is money as they say 🫣 sorry if it’s been mentioned before.
I always fold the freshly laundered bedding and pop the sheet, duvet cover and all but one of the pillow cases into the remaining pillow case. That way, the next time you change the bed, you have all of the ‘equipment’ to hand and it’s easier to find it all 😊
also, my (adult) kids think I’m bonkers, but I’ve always laid out my (and the kids when they where young) clothing out the night before, so I just grab, wash and go in the morning, I start work at 7am, and most certainly am not a natural morning person, so it saves a lot of is this black or navy type issues first thing 🫣
I painted an old kitchen chair for each of the kids rooms when they were little - this is where their school uniforms where placed in the evening, with their school shoes underneath and PE bags/school bags sorted and ready to go - I couldn’t be doing with ‘Mummmmmmm, where’s my PE shorts’ first thing in the morning before coffee 🤪
My (essential) coffee to go paraphernalia is also prepped ready to go in the morning, the machine cleaned and filled the night before, with my travel mug, washed and waiting. The kids lunches would be prepped and packed the night before, and the days main meal at least part prepped the night before too (all obs in the fridge).
I don’t know if that makes me a control freak, but I know I have time in the evenings before bed and HATE mornings xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

@Islandmaid I do the bedding thing too, it’s honestly made such a difference! I also further made it easier by getting rid of my duvet & just having a set of flat sheet (or empty duvet cover), fitted sheet, pillowcases and a washable waffle throw blanket - no more fighting with duvets to get them into covers & the layers keep us just as warm even through winter! And I agree, I’m not a morning person either. We put up hooks by our bed so we could set out clothes for the morning & I have a drawer next to my bed with those drawer organiser compartments from SHEIN with my work tops, underwear & socks so I can just open the drawer, grab whatever and get on with my day while I’m half asleep.I also now have an almost capsule wardrobe so it doesn’t matter what I grab clothes-wise, everything goes with everything pretty much.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Wow what organised ladies, I'm so impressed . I'm doing my best to declutter stuff at the moment far too much junk around the house and as I'm moving next year its a great opportunity to get shot of stuff that I really don't need and certainly don't want to cart with me over to the IoW.
My eldest DD has promised she will go through my wardrobe in the autumn and sort out essential stuff from stuff thats either too big for me (I have dropped several stone in the past couple of years) or just bought and either never worn or forgotten about
I've just popped across to the shops and bought some lettuce and milk and noticed there are two new large containers for the Sally Army in the car park of the precinct looking for clothes and shoes I know I have far too many shoes so they will probably end up in there.
I also dropped a bag of paperbacks off when I went as I am going through my books as well (far too many of those as well)
I did sort the airing cupboard out a few months ago and had the excess go to the local appeal for stuff for Ukrainian refugee families who had arrived with very little possessions at all. I sorted quite a bit of kitchen alia as well with pots and pans going to them as well as some unused cutlery.
It's quite enervating to declutter I think, as it makes you realise how much stuff you really don't need.
Onwards and upwards chums

Oh my word, this is beyond genius. BEYOND genius. I put the relevant duvet covers and pillowcases together but they always end up getting separated when teenagers and husband go near them.
I'm reorganising my linen cupboard tomorrow (I would do it this afternoon but I'm clearing my lounge).

Speaking of organised mothers....
My mom quickly got tired of separating squabbling children accusing each other of taking their juice glass or whatever and colour coded each of us. Oldest bro was (& still is in our eyes) blue, next was green, then red and finally darling little me being the only girl got saddled with pink. Breakfast was eaten in the kitchen seated on stools under a "breakfast bar" which looked out the window to the back garden. Dad (I think, but could've been mom) painted each the top of each stool our individual colour so we knew where to sit, we each had plates and bowls in our colour as well as glasses for milk or juice and mugs for hot chocolate. We even had the right colour Hudson Bay blankets on our beds. Only problem sometimes was green wasn't always an option for things so Bro2 sometimes had to have things in yellow instead.
Still not a fan of pink some several decades on!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
