My plants get the remnants of my bottle of tonic water after it has lost its fizz (usually on Day 6).
I used to save the bit of left over tonic in case a cat sprayed.  Cats that wee or spray will return to the spot unless deterred and tonic works well for this - it seems to be one of the few things that actually gets rid of the smell and the bitterness also seems to be a deterrent to the puss.
Any idea if this works for dogs too? We dont normally use tonic water but I assume its inexpensive. We have a very leaky rescue dog !

No idea but it's worth a try and is cheaper than replacing rugs.  We used puppy pad for our cat that kept forgetting litter tray protocol (would get her front paws only in the tray....but at least she knew where she was supposed to be doing things).  And a neighbour had to resort to doggy diapers for their elderly pooch.

Do you mean a constant little leak? My dog had that as she got older, and there was something I got from the vets, a liquid that was  2 or 3 drops put in her food every day - it worked like magic.

Urilin. Also had incurin tablets for mine as well. She had more leaks than the Titanic.

No , she just suffers anxiety and hates going out in the dark and /or rain or when theres thunder or fireworks. She sneaks off to a quiet corner and pees when no one is looking! We use washable puppy pads in her favourite corners but it would be nice to be able to deter her from some places!
Shes usually really good in warm weather when we can leave the back door open.

Its an oldie, but for me a useful one.
I have two empty clean plastic 2 litre screw-topped milk bottles I pierced the lids with a knitting needle several times, and when I have spare water i.e. from the washing up bowl, or the shower, until it runs hot I fill the bottles and use them as mini watering cans for my plants in the garden

As I have mobility problems, one of my arms is weak, so I cannot carry a heavy watering can, this does two jobs

    A. Easier for me to carry out to the garden when full

    B. No wasted water going down the drain that  I have paid for.

Plus instead of having to over water the lawn or flower beds it keeps my water bills down as no water gets wasted. my monthly water rate bills are now £7,60 a month. I'm not too fussed about grass as it will always survive , but my DGS has planted some onions sets and some seed potatoes so any spare water gets used on them

Hope it helps the less mobile gardeners amongst us Handy if you have patio pots as well.

Stood upright, this trick keeps cats out of the garden too; which is a blessing in a garden that's used as a toilet for all the local cats.
Will this work on foxes too? Constantly using my garden as a toilet. Terrible if stood in as it stinks far worse than any dog or cat poo. Had one looking me in the eye as he did his business the other day.
