Glad you liked the idea. !
If they are darleks can you ' lift' them up see whats under and use the soil/ compost as your 'brown' for the method i use?? If not could you take some out of the bottom little bit at a time until empty? If you dont want them then donate to local allotment??
I have one ( from pre back surgery) never knew the idea was to lift them and reposition to fill ! Now i just tip my leaves in every year. Leaves alone without being shredded take a long time to compost down. My cat goes in the door at the bottom to sleep !
Thanks for spellingdidnt want to loose my post doing a search mid way

I now use a strip of masking tape and a sharpie type pen to label and date all those bags and boxes of leftovers or surplus on their way into the freezer. Just pulls off afterwards. Admittedly you lose some element of surprise in your cooking (soup or stewed rhubarb?).20

YoungBlueEyes said:Aspirin, aye I’ve heard that one but never tried it.I use aspirins as a face mask - crush up a couple and add a wee splash of water so it’s a thick paste and slather it on clean skin. Leave it a good long while if you can. It won’t take 10 years off you, it just makes you look like you’ve a few nights of good sleep 😊Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!8

My friend has a plot on an allottment. I asked her why their darleks had no cat flap. She said by the time they had filled the last one (they had a row of them) the first was composted down and they just lifted, moved it and started again. Brie i think suggested the darleks were there when they moved in, so maybe get away with doing this as the compost may be ready My darlek only ever has leaves in which take forever to compost down if not shredded when they go in. Worth having a ponder if it makes life easier?6 -

I used to have a dalek- no door so hard to get the compost out. However it took several years to make the stuff because it got no sunlight so once emptied it was given away!
Many years later I still find compost with smashed egg shell and the little oval labels which were stuck on apples- those things never wasted away!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Why buy special labels from Lakeland when masking tape or even normal office labels would do the trick? And I've actually found that most decent weight plastic bags (the washable zip lock ones from ikea etc) can simply be written on with a pen. Might want to look for the ones that have the white label painted on them for ease.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
