Aspirin, aye I’ve heard that one but never tried it.I use aspirins as a face mask - crush up a couple and add a wee splash of water so it’s a thick paste and slather it on clean skin. Leave it a good long while if you can. It won’t take 10 years off you, it just makes you look like you’ve a few nights of good sleep 😊I oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. Yep salicylic acid. Works a treat too
And yep - a tiny dot of bleach in the flower water. I do that when I've got roses cut, otherwise it's lemonade and a 2p piece.I oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.4 -
Each week I check my cupboards and make a weekly meal plan. I then write my shopping list. Next to any fresh items I write the date it's required. This way I'm less likely to have food waste.6

Really enjoying this thread
Having had spinal surgery a year ago i have been unable to turn big compost heaps. I now keep several bigger plastic plantpots outside my back door. One has soil/ old potting mix/ leaves/ toilet roll tubes ( browns)the others i put my compostable kitchen waste, peelings coffee grounds tea leaves shredded paper...every time i put some kitchen waste in i cover it with brown layering it ( lasagne method) until its filled when i either put another plantpot on top and fill that or start a fresh one next to it. ( i dont stack more than 2). By rotating them i have regular pots of composted material that i can either add to my other plants or plant veg straight into ( tomatoes and corgette particularly successful)
It saves money on compost, you know whats in it, you can rotate your pots so no heavy lifting, if you chop contents small as they go in ,you get compost much quicker, reduces the amount of food caddy waste, saves space .Its close to back door when you dont want to go to garden in cold weather and as long as you add soil on top each time it wont attract flies.
I was a bit skeptical (?sp) when i started this but it works so well i buy a fraction of the compost i used to use.12 -

fyi - sceptical. don't know why this shows as being spelt wrong but I've checked and it's correct. must be a US/UK spelling difference I guess.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Hi brie
Glad you liked the idea. !
If they are darleks can you ' lift' them up see whats under and use the soil/ compost as your 'brown' for the method i use?? If not could you take some out of the bottom little bit at a time until empty? If you dont want them then donate to local allotment??
I have one ( from pre back surgery) never knew the idea was to lift them and reposition to fill ! Now i just tip my leaves in every year. Leaves alone without being shredded take a long time to compost down. My cat goes in the door at the bottom to sleep !
Thanks for spellingdidnt want to loose my post doing a search mid way

I stopped buying the multipack’s of flavoured yoghurt portions & switched to buying a large tub of greek yoghurt, some small round tupperware pots & stirred jam or lemon curd into it in the little pots. It actually tastes better than the bought ones, much less watery & better flavour. Best left overnight for the jam to dissolve into the yoghurt, & the lemon curd works really well.13
