A third of the month gone and this mild weather appears to be helping with energy costs.

Jan 2022 average kWh 36.5 per day
Jan 2023 average kWh 27 per day

Early days and hope this weather continues.

Read Signature for info but basically electricity only ASHP.

    Jan 2022 5kWh /day
    Jan 2023 3.1kWh/day.

Cut down a plum tree last Friday that was covered in new leaves , not a good sign for middle of winter so i'm hoping for a long-ish  cold spell.

Yeah I have 2 Apple trees with a number of leaves on, although they been dropping last few days.
  • Been in my property less than 1 year so haven't got a comparison with last Jan.

Electricity only, GSHP. 20 kWh usage per day (producing about 100 kWh heat per day - so at the moment the heat pump is working out cheaper to run than a gas boiler would).

In December we averaged 34 kWh per day as it was so much colder.

All other electricity use is about 16 kWh per day.

  • Electricity only, working from home until yesterday but have not needed the heating on apart from one day, 91kWh in total so far, likely to use around 240-250kWh over the month unless we have a very cold spell.

Interesting. For me in January so far: gas (CH and HW) around 27kWh each day. Electricity 6.7kWh/day.

Charts show comparison with 2021, which was in a different house. '2022' refers to 2022/23.

3 bed det. built 2021. 2 occupants at home all day. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i combi boiler heating to 19-20C from 6am to midnight, setback to 17.5C overnight, connected in EMS mode to Tado smart modulating thermostat. Annual gas usage 6000kWh; electricity 2000kWh.

It's been a bit better than December!
Gas so far this month £24.90 (213kWh)
    Electricity £8.02 (9kWh)
    Including standing charges

  • Just done 8 days no heating whatsoever
  • Hopefully this will be interesting to some, but this is my Gas usage for the last two years and the cost. Despite reducing my usage year on year, the costs have been growing a lot more.
