Always have a lamp on when watching TV but our living room is at the back so house would appear to be in darkness. Kitchen at the back too so no lights showing from the front of the house, even if we're making a cuppa or snack.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Let's be honest, we're all on our laptops posting away trying to knock the MSE servers over

Yeah, but with or without a light on?dealyboy said:Let's be honest, we're all on our laptops posting away trying to knock the MSE servers over

[Actually about half our bulbs are CFLs but we don't have many and they don't use vast amounts of power, and the payback period of buying new LEDs means it doesn't really make sense to replace before the end of their life. The worst one though that I desperately want to replace is a 4-pin 28W bathroom light, but can't find an LED alternative

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Try www.tlc-direct.co.uk although I found several different styles available, so not quite sure what yours is.Spoonie_Turtle said:

There are LED alternatives for everything, so it seems.
There are even ultra-efficient LEDs coming in, where a 60W equivalent draws 4W - but they are a bit pricey0 -
Perhaps I am different, but we used to have 100w bulbs.fatbelly said:There are LED alternatives for everything, so it seems.

I generally watch TV with two LED bulbs lighting the room, the kitchen light often on, with two adult children upstairs leaving on any lights they can.0 -
Yes i sit in the dark i prefer it that way. When i had a decent tv i did put a strip of led lights on the back for when i was watching movies.2

We have the TV on at the moment with just a single table lamp - it’s relatively unusual to just have the one though - often it’s joined by some bottle lamps, candles lit, or our London Underground roundel light box.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
