You are managing a difficult situation brilliantly @Drawingaline.  Few things are straightforward at the moment, I find.  Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx

Girl has signed her tenancy agreement. Waiting on two parents to sign the deed, but both kids were on the phone telling them to do it as soon as they left the EA office so fingers crossed. They all need to pay just shy of 2k in August, that will be fun as my daughter is lead tenant and it all needs to be paid from her bank account! But getting this sorted is a huge relief.

She also got her marks for her last two projects, A in both. So proud of her and how hard she has worked.

The boy is still coasting, but he knows the score, board due from September.

The wierd one had his parents evening. The 14yr old is coming out strong in class too apparently 🙄😆 but he is well liked and doing okish in maths and English. Which is all I am hoping for atm tbh.

The smallest has had some transition meetings at his new secondary school and is feeling a lot better about it all. It's a lovely school, there will be 18 in his year, so two classes and he had fun when he met the current year 6's that are moving up and the other kids who will be joining Yr7 externally. Only downside is that they don't offer History. Due to being a newish special needs school the humanities options are very limited. But if he can get to 16 happy and healthy I will be calling it a won. He can do History GCSE at 16 at one of the colleges, or even do it at home and sit it externally if we can sort it. It's his absolute favourite subject.

Finances are still a bit of a mess. Owe about £650 now the cc, which is annoying. But money set aside for our summer holiday and other bits. Going to see where we are after thus month as I have a bit of a healthy surplus coming in. Getting the boiler serviced and a new part on the car. Also need to set aside a bit for the boys 18th. Cake has been ordered, need to speak to the balloon place again. He isn't fussed about gifts. Have mentioned just giving him the money we spent on the girls 18th direct. He will be saving for a car. I managed to get the test changed to our local town, but it means waiting until November, so once the instructor has had his holiday in July will attempt an app to see if I can move it closer.

    Well done to the girl.

The rest sounds like it's coming together even if it sometimes feels by the skin of your teeth. Every day you live to fight again is a victory. Life will get easier... Not easy juggling costs of young adults never minds special needs too.

Omg, so so long and no update. I keep on putting it off, mainly because everything feels so hard right now.

The girl has paid her house deposit and is picking up the keys next week. Organising trying to move her in is proving a challenge, she basically had no overlap and is away the bank holiday weekend, so am going to have to drive and pick up her stuff to store st home for a week. Did look into storsge units, but I would probably still need to help her shift the stuff so might as well just bring it back for a week instead. Works out cheaper too. But it is a huge relief that it all seems to have worked out.

The boy is going to struggle once he is paying rent. Told him to really concentrate on passing his driving test first time as that will help massively. He gets his btec results on Thursday, he has a fair idea of what his grades are, pretty average, but good enough. He is going to look at apprenticeships in more detail soon I hope.

We went on holiday and it was lovely, even though we managed to chose the week it rained a lot. Didn't stop the smallest enjoying the beach every day, and at least we weren't roasting. I also managed camp, and did all the cooking on open fires and everyone survived!

Mettle the girl and saw Crazy for You. The main man in it is one of her favourites, we saw him in Half a Sixpence 6 years ago and she was mesmerised by him. Saw him again in Mary Poppons in 2019, so we were determined to see this production too. Was very good. Tickets were £30 for stall seats in a flash sale. Bargain and brilliant view.

We are off to London with the two smallest this weekend to do the Terrible Thames tour. Hoping the smallest enjoys it and the wierd one likes being on the river.

Then I have a camp over the bank holiday weekend, looking forward to it, I went last year and it was really relaxing, its a centrally organised one so I don't have to do much when we are there. Planning on taking whatever stitching project I am working on and getting a fair chunk done.

Bought school uniform, feel very poor now. Mum will pay for the smallest one so will get some back, but the wierd on needed a new blazer, shirts and trousers for year 10. He has grown so much in the past 18 months. Am hoping their shoes will at least last until Xmas to break up the spending a bit.

Otherwise we are all just plodding along. I seem to have over committed somewhat and think hubby is frustrated that my volunteering is taking over a bit, but I love it. It's more that work keeps getting in the way! I am hoping to sit down with my team and hash out s full yesr plan, including any residential stays which may help a bit. Then slot in any day trips as and when.

Will attempt to update more regularly, but who knows if that commitment will last!

  • Well my commitment to update more regularly didn't appear! I need to be on here more to make myself more accountable.

Moved the girl into her house, ended uo spending way more than I was planning on. She was incredibly emotional about leaving her halls, and is very unsure about a couple of the people she has moved in with. She was also exhausted after a summer of working non stop, but has taken September off and is now super bored 😆 she came home for a week, longest she has been back since Xmas!

The boy passed his Btec, nothing brilliant, but passed, now needs to move forward. He has extra shift st his part time job and has his driving test in November and if he passes will get himself a car. We will then save £160 a month which means I can put some of his 'keep' away for him to give back when he decides to move out. Atm all of it will be going on the girls rent.

The smallest started secondary school. He seems to have settled well, I am not enjoying the increased school run and will need to increase my fuel budget to accommodate it.

The summer has cost. A lot. Am carrying a balance on the credit card. I do have a plan to shift it though and it's at 0%, but it does feel like a slide backwards.

Will definitely attempt to post more frequently!

I found DS at uni so expensive. We hadn't save enough in advance and TBH ended up returning a lease car part way through its lease and buying a clunker to help pay for it. It's not an easy time.
