Well because  paid so much off the debt this month the dishwasher decided to die. Its just not getting hot enough and therefore not cleaning properly. It is old, definitely at least 15yrs, possibly older, so no point fixing, the baskets are going rusty.

I would happily not bother to replace it, but hubby adores it. So it is having to be replaced. I got the child benefit this morning so using that and some of his personal savings and new one being fitted on Friday.

So no debt, but still frustrating.

Life often feels like 2 steps forward 1 back so I feel your pain. It sounds like your dishwasher lasted well though.

  • New dishwasher paid for and installed. Cobbled the money together from a couple of places, but no added debt. Squeaky tight now though.

I have horrendously over committed this week. Monday I took the boy to an apprenticeship fair at the other local college, got a few ideas of places he could maybe apply for on a couple of months. Tonight I had Brownies and have had endless extra paperwork due to a couple of trips we have planned. Tomorrow I am off to London to see the girl and for a theatre trip. Thursday I will be up early as hubby is in the office and will need to get to the station for 7am, and Friday eve I have a local theatre trip with the Brownies.

The boy has his theory driving test again, really hoping he passes this time, he keeps failing by one mark! He is like me and struggles with multiple choice, makes stupid mistakes. Once he has finally passed it we can look at booking his practical test, will be at least another six months though, if he can get a test at all that is! The lessons are so expensive and I need them out of my budget ASAP.

Gosh that is a busy week, hope you get some down time at the weekend. Fingers crossed he passes the test. Well done on not getting into debt on the dishwasher.

Today we received some fantastic news regarding the smallest boys secondary school. He has been allocated the one we asked for, that was super hard to get into, but fitted his needs perfectly.

Also the boy passed hos driving theory test (at last) so although it is a stressful week, some rsys of light shining through.

  • Well the week is over. Enjoyed a jaunt to London to see &juliet with the girl. The number of people (mainly women) who were absolutely plastered in the theatre was ridiculous though! I really enjoyed the show and am glad we saw it before it closed, but the behaviour of some audience members was shocking. Standing up headbanging, constantly filming, this is a West End musical, not a concert! I am all for some clapping along, bopping in your seat and even an occasional whoop if it's encouraged by the performers, but headbanging 🤷‍♀️

And then last night I took a group of Brownies to our local theatre to see the Gang show. And apart from one girl they were all impeccably behaved. And even the one girl was just loving it and had obviously never seen anything like it before and was just curious about everything. She was just a bit wriggly and loud! But she is 7. My son is going with his cub troop next week. If he does stay on at scouts he may even audition next time. He loves the theatre and can sit through a 2hr musical, but absolutely cannot sit through a 2hr film. Odd boy.

The girl is back this weekend for some R&R. She is back to uni for a full on timetable on Monday so wanted to catch up on some sleep. She was out clubbing on Thursday though, so arrived back rather hungover 😆 she is still loving London life and seems to be doing OK with her course.

Financially I have not been doing so well. Had to buy a peice of equipment for work. So it will go into my tax return, but was £130. But was very needed. And I have also overspent in a few other areas. Must do better.

The wierd one turned 14, and is even more teen than ever. I think he had a good day, but it can be hard onto judge tbh.
