Thanks for the quick replies everyone, its much appreciated.

I don't have access to a computer at the moment so I only have the app to go on but it says "you don't have any bills yet, they'll appear here when they do" so I assume that message is correct?

My direct debit is £53 a month, they take the direct debit from my bank, then a couple of days later I get a payment back into my bank of the same amount. The app/website shows two items each month, my direct debit of +53, then a gov energy bill discount of the same amount, and that's it.
  • The ‘Gov Energy Bill Discount’ or Energy Bills Support Payment is paid solely to those consumers with electricity. It is a payment of £400 over a period of 6 months commencing from 1 October and paid monthly. I don’t understand why you think that you are missing out on 30% discount?

I think because the OP is only getting the same returned to her account as the DD leaving it = £53

    Instead of getting £66/£67 rebate.

presumably the remainder is being held on credit by BG.
But is is different to edf for example that pay back 67 per month

Yes sorry, my 30% was purely an estimate, I didn't calculate exactly how much I'm missing.

But yes, herebeme is correct, I'm just trying to find out why my discount is less than the 66/67 rebate others are getting.

There does seem to be a problem with my gas account as well and BG don't know how much I'm using (expecting a call on monday to fix) so maybe it'll all be resolved afterwards.

If I'm dueit and I've not misunderstood the discount then I guess I'll keep trying my luck with BG.

    Thanks everyone!

The rest of it should be credited to your amount, which you're not seeing because of their infrequency of issuing bills.

Have you explicitly asked BG where they are holding the balance of the rebate? And, for example, will the remainder be applied as credit against your March and April direct debit?

(They may have got confused by you talking about gas and merging accounts. So I would not try and discuss both issues at once. The rebate only applies to electricity account.)

Ahh ok, so it might show up on the bill when BG finally issue one? Guess I'll use chat and ask for a bill then, fingers crossed!

    Thank you!

    Also ask them something like
the government rebate is supposed to be paid in 5 instalments from October to February, which is £66 / £67 a month. But I am only being credited £53 a month back to my bank current account. Where is the remainder of the rebate being held and when will it be credited to my bank account?

Or maybe wait to see if it appears on the bill they're about to request.  Then if it doesn't, ask them where it is.
