It has just been anounced that there will be a £200 payment this year to those using heating oil, double last year's payment  I am on heating oil however didn't get any payments, did anyone else get the £100 and if so where do you claim it ? My understanding was it was to be paid via my electricity company but not sure if have to claim it or its just paid automatically.

Still no concrete detail announced by the government on this scheme, I'm afraid.

There was no £100 payment, it was just talked about and then it was raised to £200 which we should be getting in January but there have been no real details yet.

    It was announced months ago.

Its a bit of an FAQ in the oil and alternative fuels section of the board.  Nobody has yet.

That is the proposal as it stands.

Nobody's had it, current plan is for February apparently.

"Most households eligible for the AFP support in Great Britain, will receive payment automatically via their electricity supplier in February"

How does the government know you have a heating oil supply ?
Does the heating oil company pass your details on to them ??

From what I have read, it won't be the heating oil company, as most people with any sense shop around each time they need the tank filling.

I don't know if the Govt can access the energy companies databases. If they do, I imagine the logic would go something like this :

If a domestic consumer has a dual fuel tariff with a single supplier (gas and electric) then no payment.
If a domestic consumer has different electric and gas suppliers but to the same address, then no payment.
    Otherwise make a payment.

I suspect the government hasn't thought that far ahead.

I have written to my electricity supplier (Octopus) advising them I use heating oil and requesting they transfer the £200 to my bank account when they receive it next month
If everyone did this, I'm sure the electricity companies would release the funds as soon as they are in receipt of them

Wishful thinking, the energy companies don’t want millions of letters or emails from random people claiming this. As outlined previously it will be done automatically.
