I am unfortunately a customer of Eon Next, I pay by Direct Debit. Your article says that they have paid all refunds by 19th February, however they have not repaid mine it is showing as a credit on my electricity account meaning I have a credit balance of £385 approximately 4 months winter usage. When I asked them for a refund of the £200 Alternative Fuel Grant they have tried to give me the runaround asking for Electricity meter readings, so that they can get an accurate position on the account. I have read previously on the forum that this is their standard response to refund requests which will be followed by all kinds of prevarications such as photos of the meter readings etc.
Last month Eon Next unilaterally decided to take my DD without the EBSS reduction despite that it still had 2 months to run. When quizzed on this they had done this to avoid me building up debt (account was and always has been in credit as they set my DD at £20 above my monthly usage). I never chose to be with this company, I was a Symbio refugee. Frankly I am amazed that Ofgem choose such poor companies as the lifeboats for bankrupt energy companies, this is my 2nd experience of this and both were shoddy.

If you are in a postcode predominantly heated by electricity then you will not get the automatic payment and will need to apply when application portal opens in March, you will likely need to evidence your usage of alternative fuels and they will decide if that meets the criteria, though it may not as you also have storage heaters.
