There is major excitement as we got a text at 8.30 this morning they would like to make an offer of £483K we accepted immediately as the estate agent fee would be saved at £5K and I will be covered for what I paid plus renovations. We might ask £2K for fixtures and fittings incl the hot tub then there is something to negotiate on but not having to list is just a massive plus as the viewings was a pain. They are listing their house this week and they will attract first time buyers in the bracket they are in. It is also my mums birthday today so when I called her she was super chuffed. We are meeting the couple again Wednesday to chat what is next plus I have pushed my sister to get a viewing for the Danish house.
We have the Danish conveyancing firm meeting Friday we get back off leave and the removal company on the Monday after so that is nicely lined up. We will need to go and view in Denmark if this house really is the one but I will wait and see until my sister has been to see it.
Just want to work out finances then:
Sale of my house £483K
House in Denmark £287K
Left over: £195K out of that we need to pay:
UK solicitor approx £1500
Moving cost £14K hopefully a lot less
Cats move £2K
2 types of Danish house type tax based on value of house and plot.
I wanted a clear £100K to put toward my retirement pre state pension and also some left over for buying a car in Denmark which are expensive plus a couple of electric scooters. So I think we can say the figures stack up and we can now get the ball rolling.
First 4 days of work before a weeks leave sp plenty to crack on with but I feel refreshed after the weekend of getting lots done.
I know it is a long post (can you tell I am excited) just before I go we sorted DGs pension out turns out her current employer is using the same company as the previous firms and the one before so hers are all in the same company. We have asked how we put more money in before April DG wants to put in £32K so as she is a 40% tax payer that will be a nice sum as there is only £20K in there currently.
We also found her Civil Service Pension which we have asked for a quote for as she turns 60 in May. There is still a bit to look into there but she feels a lot better knowing what she has and understands it now. If we can max out her contributions next year too (before we move) she can then take her 25% tax free and that can be the sum she dips into when she goes part time. The big issue really is for her to settle her big cases before she can move but fingers crossed that happens.
Right need to crack on!

oh this is so exciting - this offer sounds perfect - hoping it all goes smoothly - can you not fly out at the weekend to take a look at this possibly new home ?Tx for tax links
Your maths look great on the move and be perfect if you can get money into those pensions before you leaveDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks Daisy and LWAP I was very excited yesterday and we have now got a viewing for the Danish house with the fab layout on Sunday. It just about works out as we will be waiting for the others at the airport and it being europe we can just view on our phones. I looked it up if you avoid easter and went Sunday to Tuesday out of Gatwick it is only £54 return to CPH then there is a train to my sisters and obviously parking at Gatwick but still doable. The people in Denmark do not really want to move but they have a long commute to work (moved there in Covid). They only want to move if they find something suitable and it has to all line up.
Also amazing news I WON £200 ON PREMIUM BONDS a very happy TG this morning. Also yesterday the painter came back to me asking if we still wanted to work done which I do as I do not want anything looking odd on the survey so that is another thing that is slotting into place.
Bridget Jones was really good lots of nods to the other films which I can hardly remember so we are planning a move marathon at our new house when we get the project and screen set up. Should be fund. No spends other than the tickets as we did not buy anything.
DG is away with work I dropped her off this morning at 7am she will be back tomorrow. Plan is for me to work and do gym tonight at 6pm then nip to supermarket to hopefully pick up a yellow sticker meal pack in Sainsbo for Thursday evening. Otherwise just buy one.
I think that is it for news right now

Afternoon been so busy with calls I am really so behind so unusual for me but just lost my mojo abit.
Poolman is here he is also cleaning the patio which I know we could do ourselves but he does not charge that much as he is also fixing the pool cover.
Got an answer from the Danish association but it really was not that helpful and I am not that much further other than the cost of advice would be £1000 which is fine but advice on setting up a company would be £1500 to over £2K so that is not worth it. Everytime I get into this topic I get more and more confused but I think this £1000 might be worth it.
Not a lot else to update we will know more about the restructure this afternoon so that will be interesting.Need to grab some lunch now or I will not have a break until 4.30pm so that is too long to wait lol.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Huge congrats on sale plans. So great!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -

Thanks Watty and Savingholmes it does feel good to be moving forward. We could be waiting for ages for a buyer that would pay more and then they could mess us about or be in a long chain. Obviously this lot has to sell first but they are listing early next week so when we are back from holiday we can catch up and see where we are. I would like the options to still list if it drags with them finding a buyer but so far no rush.
The pool repair and garden clean came to £360 which is a lot but it was a whole day and it does look fab so we can now enjoy it this Summer. I am not going to get it all painted unless we need to list so that is a saving too.
The golf clubs are packed, suitcase ready to close and dinner got for tonight I picked it up (in my pjs I might add) last night. DG came back from her work trip and still have lots to do before we sign off tonight. My work is better now I should be able to catch up.
Markets are taking a hammering I really hate that man is he even sane! I think I will pay for the advice re Danish tax I should pay off in the long run and save time and fines if we did get it wrong. I think it will end up with DG not officially living in Denmark until her big cases are settled hopefully not be more than a few months.
Website is still progressing we have our next meeting with them when we return from holiday. We do need to take some pictures of us for the site and obviously write all the text. At the moment Dg has enough work with her big cases and her part time job she does not need the cases this website will generate. They are going to help us with the social media profiles so look forward to that side of things.
We had another big meeting at work and things really are looking bleak so I am so grateful for plan Denmark. Basically they have so save £200K out of 28ish posts so I reckon that is about 6 posts over 3 teams. Everyone is feeling really sad about it and the projects we help will have to pay for that advice instead of get it free from us. Anyway not my problem I cannot do anything about it.Save £12k in 25 No 49

I did do a post yesterday but forgot to post it.Faro trip was great with the other two older ladies we all got on so well. Now we’re golfing and it’s not the greatest weather. Lots of practice etc. one of my clubs broke it can be repaired but I do need a new set of irons. They are expensive but mine are 20 years plus.Did view the house on Sunday via my mum sister and the rest of the family. It does look lovely but the kitchen is quite basic which is a shame but with new doors it could be nicer. It’s a bit dark in the kitchen and most of the bedrooms but the lounge and dinning area is south facing and the patio is also. The green house is large and looks great. It’s not officially on the market but it is for sale if that makes sense. They want to move nearer work.We got soaked today so hoping for better weather tomorrow.Save £12k in 25 No 49
