Thanks Beanielou, QueenJess and Watty1 yes it is a worry and we almost did not make it on holiday as it really did not look good at one stage. My sister has been brilliant in dealing with most of it and on holiday she let her husband have her sim card so they could call him in Denmark. I did buy roaming for Turkey so he could then contact us but most of the time we had wifi. We spoke to the nurse at the home yesterday as she wanted to ask if they could call a doctor for him. He has a urine infection and that's standard procedure. He is down for palliative care but she does not feel that that is the correct diagnosis. She feels he is better than that but they will assess. He is a tough old man who has had quite a tough start in life working since he was 10 years old and having to get a formal education much later in life as they only went to school every second day so they could work in those days. Anyway we are going to see him Sunday and staying until Tuesday. I will also get to see my mum and she might need help in the garden etc so that will be nice.
I know he would not want to live like this but it is what it is and I do not feel he can ever return home. At least at the moment horrid girlfriend is off the cards which is really good.
I got some of the lawn down yesterday but I have only got one set of charged batteries so today is next step. I bought a cheap burner for the weeds at the weekend so might have a go with that as it looks like rain. I have also started a war against the slugs there are 1000's which is so gross and they eat everything. The garden does look super pretty I will take some pictures later.
I do have a long to do list so need to write it down here or the day just does and I get nothing done.
To do:
Lawn and strimming plus tidy up grass done lawn but batteries out so not strimmed
Sort out HRT prescription - go to a chemist

Email electrician to get bill

Oil dinning table DONE
Buy white oil for kitchen

Morning another lovely sunny day here today although we did get a lot of rain at times yesterday. We did managed to get a bit wet at the golf game last night but I played really well and it was a nice night. I love our little Tuesday working ladies group they are all lovely beginners and experienced. I cannot wait for the 2 day trip.
Today DG has got an appointment in the larger city so I will come with her and then we will go to IKEA afterwards to get the storage solutions. I do need to measure some cupboards but mainly prep is done. We might need a new front door mat as ginger cat peed on it and although its been in the washing machine I am not 100% sure. It was an old boring grey one we brought with us but it is a good size.
On the way back I hope we have time to stop at the tractor place that sells robo lawn mowers. I have done some research and I need a GPS one as it would just be too much to put the cable down all around. I know it is another large garden expense but with the new land it 1600m2 I need to mow so that is a lot and I do not want to buy a ride on mover.
Did the research on the new car it is £30K but then there is winter tyres and the eclectic charger which we need to buy and get installed. The previous owners had one so I am sure the site is prepped for it. I went to send an enquiry form off but it did not work and I cannot remember the name of the sales person so that is a not annoying. I will have to call them but not today. I have always bought demo cars or something that was already in stock so this is a first. This car will be kept a long time. The car in the UK needed an MOT and the exhaust done that was £425 but it has still be super cheap to run and the insurance is tiny plus only £20 road tax. Our friend who looks after it always drives us around and lets us use her place and her mums caravan so it is worth keeping it another year and then see. If we start taking the electric car over once a year then it will be less useful.
I have been asked if I will play in another regional golf series so it will definitely be useful with 2 cars. Also if we then do go out we can leave the old car and pick it up the next day something you cannot do when you onle have 1 car.
Site was down so could not post until now so might as well update as we have been on our major shopping expedition.
McD which could have been avoided but was quite nice actually. Then Power where we got a handheld steamer you can also take on your travels so that was quite good. We have needed one for ages.
Then it was the dreaded IKEA but we got everything we came for and it was pretty painless. £200 but some might go back as I bought extra for the kitchen organisation rather than be short. Got a mat for the dinning room outside door and turns out we had one in the shed but it is used in there so may as well stay.
Then it was the major supermarket and DG had a total winge fest as she could not get her favorite cheese and onion crisps. Looks like they are going to stock the crinkled version which she does not like. I have to go to a mammogram tomorrow so will try and get some in the shop Gemini thinks stocks them. I was going there anyway for something else so worth a go.
Going to speak to our friends with the car tonight see if she can put us up when we are in the UK. Feel tired IKEA really takes it out of you.
Also went to the chemist it is a stupid system for HRT you cannot chose a chemist you just go to one and they can tell you which local one has your stuff if they do not. As we were quite a way from home I was not going to venture to other places today but need to really look soon as I am running out of patches.Got loads of meat so can do a big bulk cook tomorrow thinking bolognaise, chilli and some for cottage pie in the big slow cooker.
To do:Lawn and strimming plus tidy up grass done
Sort out HRT prescription - go to a chemist
Research new car
Research Robo lawn mover DONE visiting place tomorrow to see them. - did not have time to go
Email electrician to get bill

Thanks Beanielou I do not feel like I am getting anywhere as there is just quite a bit to do. How did I ever work full time lol.
Got ink cartridges ordered DG paid via her business it was £90 and it will hopefully last a fair while. It is annoying we cannot do the ink subscription but that means getting a new printer which is just too wasteful to think of. We do not print that much anymore as DG gets her office to print and send things now she is here. It is more for say birthday vouchers, tickets, bookings etc so should last quite a while.
I tried a couple of the kitchen items out yesterday should work but not under the sink still need something better for cleaning products.
There was actually some money saving yesterday we used the IKEA scan and go app and by doing this you can walk straight through the checkout and just pay on the terminal it then prints a receipt which you need for leaving. No scanning and packing at the hectic self help tills. Also you got 5% off your whole order for doing it so well worth it. I would do it again even without the 5%. Also in IKEA we did not buy anything that was no on the list. This might be because we go so often although we nearly got some outdoor shelves which were really nice for DGs heirloom gnomes
DG also upgraded to a higher subscription for AI and it is a family plan so we can share. I can cancel mine which is really cool.
I have to leave today at 12 for my mammogram so priority is the do the bulk cooking and hopefully the rest of the lawn if it ever stops raining.
To do:Mow and strim grass on new land started raining 10 min before I was done.
Sort out HRT prescription - go to another chemist
Research new car
Research Robo lawn mover DONE visiting place tomorrow to see them. - did not have time to go
Email electrician to get bill DONE

Sort kitchen cupboards
Bulk cook in progress

Thanks Watty I did work from home which is a lot more flexible but yes how did I fit it in.
Got a good chunk done on the list yesterday and we got to the cinema. There was some wine involved which was not planned but the film was ace and we had 11 guests who bought lots of sweets and drinks so that was cool too. There is another film we would like to watch before they close for the Summer. I do love our little volunteer job 3 hours twice a month and you get to see free movies what is not to like.
Got to my mammogram it was very efficient and fine and took 5 min no waiting. I got free parking with the appointment so had a quick look in the town which is super popular with retired people. It is gorgeous cobbled streets, colourful houses, lovely square and packed with restaurants bars and cafes plus little shops. A kind of XL version of our town nearby. I will defo come back with DG.
Got to the shop where I got the shower gels last time and they still had them got a bigger version so £4.50 for 750ml which is good for Denmark. Also found some tartar sauce something we have really missed. No Cheese and Onion crips AI was wrong on that one.
My sister then called we have an appointment with the coordinator who organises the nursing homes. Because he is not assessed as unable to manage his own affairs he has to agree himself. If he does not we cannot move him over here or into a home. The coordinator will help and visit him in his current nursing home and get him to say yes. She sounds ok. We are going over on Sunday to see him staying until Tuesday
To do:Mow and strim grass on new land started raining 10 min before I was done. DONE
Pick up parcel DONE

Afternoon been a while but I have been over to see my dad with my sister. It was a very good trip and we got my dad to agree to move to a nursing home this side of the water in our council boundaries. They have 8 weeks from today to find him a place so he might end up in a temp home before his final home. We hope we will get one of 2 near us one is 200m from me actually. If not there are 3 others not too far away but two that a quite a long way so would rather avoid those but we can get places anywhere.
He's house is now with the two sets of tenants and we have to decide what to do with it in terms of either renovating it and then when my dad passes we can let his flat our as well as upstairs. The lodger below really needs to move out but it is not that easy. We know the owner of next door wants to buy it and so not the person who owns the house backing onto his. It is in a prime location but I think it needs heaps of work. I might have a conversation with AI and see if it can get me started on working out what is what. An estate agent is defo needed and so it some trades. There does not seem to be any letting agents in Denmark but more to look into. The best thing really is that he is not going back hope so the hassle with the girlfriend is entirely gone and she has no idea where he is which is just as it should be.
My mum is getting more forgetful which is such a shame she was always so bright and sharp. She is very much enjoying where she lives and the friends she has so no chance of her moving yet. I hope she does move eventually when she is ready but ideally before she gets dementia it is such a horrid thing.
No more client on the marketing side and no further with the to do list. I will have to chase the car dealer tomorrow and I have been offered a survey that will pay £80 so that will be really good. DG is having a work call from 9.30 to 12pm so I need to be out of the office in that time. I can set up in the dinning room no problem really.
Golf this afternoon which is nice it does look like it will be dry so that is quite good.

Buy white oil for kitchen (not far from vet)
Sort out HRT prescription - go to another chemist tried another did not have it either
Research new car Left message for dealer to call me back so we can order CHASE AGAIN

Booked DG flights to UK in July it is so expensive as it is summer holidays and she is booking them so so late. I have had to decamp to the dinning table as DG has a online court hearing that has to be in a separate room. It is fine does not take that long.
I really need to get that car ordered today and also look into my mums enduring power of attorney not sure why we got so stuck last time.
Ginger cat is so clingy he is currently sat on my lap which is sweet but not very productive as he nudges my hand for a cuddle. I think he really missed me while I was away.
It really is time to look at the finances and see what bills we are paying out of my account and look into setting up some joint accounts. Ideally I would like a joint account for spending and one for bills and then some pots for car, house maintenance, travel/fun etc. We kind of had that in the UK but not set that up yet as DG has only just got an account set up.
TO DOBuy white oil for kitchen
Sort out HRT prescription - go to another chemist tried another did not have it either
Research new car Left message for dealer to call me back so we can order BOOKED so exciting
