Morning all.Well it’s the last 2 days of the holiday, it’s flown by. I can’t exactly say it’s been relaxing as there’s too much going on and also Mr SA is hard work.We found a lovely little bar at the back of our hotel last night, a proper Spanish bar and it was quite cheap with good food. I had a tofu and roast veg baguette and Mr SA had burger and chips again 😆
We’ve been unintentionally fasting this holiday as nowhere opens until 10am and neither of us are big breakfast people so we’ve been waiting until lunchtime. There isn’t a toaster or kettle in the room although I believe reception will provide them if needed. I think we’d probably have been better going half board although we both hate hotel buffets. This hotel is perfect for Mr SA as it’s very accessible and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. It’s right on the seafront too. They have a snack bar which is very reasonable and the food is good so we’ve had lunch there a few times. We’ve done well with the spending money and it’s lasting to say it’s more expensive here. It’s still cheaper than back home for most things though. I did wonder if I should’ve taken an extra €100 but there was no need.I’m going for a walk along the seafront shortly while Mr SA watches TV. Might try again for a seat in Cafe Mambo tonight or at least walk up there to watch the sunset. It’s hot already and our balcony is in the shade in the morning.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Has the unintentional fasting been beneficial in any way?
I love a walk along a seafront. enjoy the sunsetIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Morning all, happy Monday.Another beautiful day here on the White Island. I’ll miss waking up to the smell of pine and seeing the sea from my balcony. Can’t believe it’s the last day already 😢
Last night we went back to Cafe Mambo to watch the sunset. There were hundreds of people there either in the bar itself or on the beach in front. Afterwards we went for a meal in the town, back to the restaurant where I had the lovely tofu biriyani. Then we had a drink in the hotel bar before heading to bed at midnight. Not sure what we’ll do today, probably another walk along the sea front before stopping off for lunch. Yesterday Mr SA spotted a shop where they sold enormous cheese and ham baguettes so that was his lunch decided. I asked them if they could make me a smaller cheese and salad one which they did. My Spanish lessons have certainly come in handy this holiday as not everyone speaks English. We sat on the balcony eating lunch with a glass of cava. Mr SA watched TV and slept all afternoon while I read my book.I went to fetch the Cafe del Mar gin last night but it was €49 in the shop against £36 online so I’ll be buying it online. Not paying that much for it when it’s cheaper online. At least I won’t have to worry about getting it home in one piece.Photos of last night:I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
Isn't it gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your holiday with us.
That's a big difference in gin prices - if you save that much three years running, you've 'earned' yourself another bottle's worth.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
