Afternoon all.
Worked in the office until lunchtime, WFH this afternoon.
Messaged the carpet man to check all on for tomorrow, what time and did I need to give any cash to the fitter. For some reason whenever I’ve had a carpet fitted I always have to pay the fitter in cash. I deliberately messaged while I was in the city centre with access to banks. I didn’t hear back so withdrew £100 just in case. He’s just messaged back saying £275 cash 😞Stopped off at Lidl! on the way home to pick up the things I couldn’t carry yesterday. I noticed the water shelves were stripped bare! I begrudgingly bought some bottles a while ago but could do with a few more. I never buy bottled water unless I’m abroad so this is against the grain but I’d regret it if it was needed and I hadn’t got any. I hate it when people panic buy. I remember the sheer greed of people stripping the shelves in Mr S at the beginning of the pandemic. No doubt it will be loo rolls next 🤬
It was lovely and sunny walking home but as soon as we turned the corner to our road the wind hit us full force. A vortex of leaves blew up and I had to stop to let the wind die down as I couldn’t see a thing!
At least my washing was dry.
My new footstool has finally arrived and it’s lovely. Looking forward to putting my feet up on it tonight.
Today’s exercise has been walking to/from work, yoga and strength training later.
Tonight’s dinner is leftover vegetable traybake from Sunday.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪6 -
Forgot to add I got official confirmation of my part time hours and reduced salary from HR. Although I was expecting a big reduction in salary it was still a shock to see it in writing. I have to remember there’s state pension on top of that. Next I need to check HR know I’m claiming pension and to stop taking NICS.

That's mad about the water, not surprised though TBH.

They should stop taking NI even if you don't take your state pension. I'll add at present to that as it is one of the things that has been discussed. You can't claim sick pay or unemployment if you are over state pension age even if you don't take the pension.

SA, you could always thoroughly wash the used plastic milk bottles and fill those with water?? Even if these don't get used for drinking, they could be used for loo flushing and for hand-washing.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?3 -
That’s a brilliant idea. I was thinking about what I could use to fill with rainwater other than the water butt for that very purpose so filling used milk cartons would be ideal - and goodness knows we get through enough of them 😆 Also at some stage the bottled water will have to be used before it goes out of date so those empty bottles could also be filled for the same purpose. I guess this is going to be business as usual for us all going forward.

Morning all happy hump day.
WFH and the carpet fitter is here. Managed to withdraw cash locally this morning to pay him.
Thankfully DD is working today so out of the way for the carpet fitting. I’m trapped in my home office until it’s done.
Mr M delivery arrived earlier and I have some more bottled water to add to my stash.
Mid week finance check done. Transferred carpet money from savings to current account. An oddment of £8.97 sent to the Christmas pot.Today’s exercise is yoga (done), walking to the high street, strength training and Zumba later.
Tonight’s dinner is veggie casserole in the slow cooker. I’ve got a stew pack that was reduced in the Mr M flash sales, their online version of yellow stickers. It will do me a couple of meals with some veggie sausages.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪4 -
