I've been up since 3am again 😖 I've been updating my spreadsheets, doing a bit of admin and packed an ebay parcel.
Both kids need to be in school early today, so I'll have a longer day to myself. I'm planning on making a start in the bathroom. If I can get the mist coat done today, and maybe the ceiling, then we should be able to paint it properly at the weekend, and then I can hopefully get the plumber back in to reattach the heated towel rail which will be nice to have again. I won't do the woodwork until after the radiator is done as without any heat in there it will take too long to dry.
It's been a very frustrating week at work. So many questions that are not being answered at all, and others which don't really address the point. I worry that I'm arguing myself into a job that I don't really want and that I might wind up being stitched up. From what I can see, if I'm slotted in or win a ringfence to a new role, I keep my tupe. If I choose to apply for a new job I have to accept new T&C which are worse than mine (fair enough as it's my choice). It looks though that if they offer me 'suitable redeployment', I either have to accept it on new T&C, or if I turn it down, I forfeit redundancy, unless I can convince them why it's not suitable. That seems inherently unfair, so I'm simultaneously arguing that I should be slot in or ringfenced for the 'new' 4 in 1 job, whilst also suggesting that it's too much work for one person. I worry that they will at some point decide it's suitable redeployment, so I'll be forced to take it and also lose my current T&Cs."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I did do the mist coat in the bathroom yesterday, and DH finished the bits I couldn't reach today. I also did the ceiling, and am trying to decide if the one coat is enough. I think it probably will be but I'll see how it looks once the walls are done.
I'm not doing the main painting today as I'm absolutely exhausted. I was pretty much up since 11.15pm last night. This not sleeping is doing my head in. The paint is dark purple so there's not going to be much room for error, and I'm not that great when I'm not tired! Hopefully I'll get a better nights sleep tonight and will be able to do a coat tomorrow.
We went to the farm shop this morning as they had a craft fayre and tasting day on (yum!). I've managed to pick up a couple of Christmas gifts, something for little miss's birthday and (ahem) quite a bit of food. I did get a sack of potatoes as well so they should last for a while.
Little miss wants to go back to the cat cafe for her birthday so I've booked that in. I've also been doing a bit of Christmas and birthday shopping this morning, so I'll need to start keeping a list of what I've got. I'm still aiming to have it all done and hopefully wrapped by the end of this month."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Sorry you are not sleeping. Perhaps go to your GP if it persists. Sounds frustrating on the work situation too. It sounds like you may be better off leaving if you are reasonably confident you can get something else quickly enough.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
