Just checking in to see how you and your daughter are doing. Hope all is well Watty xMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Yes thanks @Watty1. I'm still in the diabetic range but am on a concerted programme to lose a stone as that will most likely fix it. All good with DD. Will post more soon love Humdinger xx6

Hello again everyone and thanks for checking in. I've been rather overtaken by events; on the whole, things are working out though many are work in progress.
In summary:
DD has decided that she doesn't want to act and has withdrawn from the degree she was doing. She had an MRI scan just before Christmas which mercifully ruled out a brain tumour. That encouraged her to think about how she wants to spend her life; she loves her pub work and has just been taken on by a company with an excellent training scheme: you can start behind the bar and progress to management. Student debt currently stands at 30k but it would have been double by end of the degree if she'd continued; what is the point to go into a wildly insecure career where she'd likely be working much of the time in hospitality in any case.
I have been elected City Councillor on the yellow ticket. I am now campaigning like a pit pony for the Gen Election. This has been made easier by my main self-employed contract finishing in a welter of accusations from the client. Spoiler alert: all wrong; the main problem is that the almost definite change of government is giving them major, even existential, problems. Add to that the view how DARE I be elected as anything other than Blue, and here we see the result. I will need to find some new part-time work but not till after the election. I view this as a bullet dodged; they have set me free to campaign round the clock for the outcome they most fear. Is it harsh to view them as Juggins? I always felt a little ambivalent about the work but justified it by reflecting that I was making a process fairer.
Thank goodness for the LBM: I know that I don't need to spend enormous sums on showing off to have a happy, worthwhile life.
Lots and lots of steps. Blood sugar tests I'm doing at home look quite good but I do need to book an appointment with the nurse.
Thanks everyone for your concern. I truly appreciate you all. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx11
