I am just waiting for the stories of Soot when in trouble hobbling past you on three paws.

I couldn't resist!

In my defence, I worked in public libraries for about 20 years, in a previous life!
I also have a much loved cat and would also feel awful if I had accidentally trodden on hér, so can fully empathise Foxgloves.

Oh poor Soot and poor you, its horrible when you inadvertently hurt a pet isn't it. Glad he's okay, though like @badmemory, I expect you'll have a 'Meowmy, I can only be cured by medicinal dreamies' 😁5

My knowing this comes from having a dog a lot of years ago that had to have a toe removed as it had a bad growth on it, so for a little while had to walk on 3 paws. Once it was healed no problem. But whenever he was in trouble youo could hear him on all fours behind the settee where he couldn't be seen & then on 3 paws as soon as he could. Never tell me they don't have long term memories. This went on from him being 6 to 18, he couldn't do it after then as he could even get down the step to outside, my mother used to lift him out & in.

I've been resourceful with my time yesterday and finished reading a book it was quite easy to read and funny as it was intended. I read maybe 1 a year. I have offered it to my DB and is being passed onto him. I agree that face ache is a thief of time and it is my aim to reduce the rabbit warren of it.
@teapot2 Definitely agree it is cold toast and marmalade. Marm is too heavy for soggy toast
My NWide card got blocked by my incompetence of remembering the god damn pin. Had to get a new pin reminder then to understand correctly I need to travel 16 miles round trip to use THEIR atm to unlock it!!I know this is slowing spending down and being resourceful but Grrr all because it's not a bank....
Have a good weekend all

Oh no @2Scratters, what a complete pain in the neck. I am with NW, luckily they have a branch in the village. They also have a sign up saying they promise they won't be going anywhere until at least 2028. Hoping they'll stiil be there after that as well.

Thank you for the advice regarding how much Cointreau you added to the marmalade. It is dog paws that get underfoot in this house, causing much offence to the canines and indeed guilt on my part. They do like to be right in there with whatever I am doing! Good to see that Soot recovered quickly 😊I am on my third book this year and for the first time I am going to make a note of what books I have read. This is mainly to aid my memory as I often wonder if I have read a particular book already when I am at the library!6

I'm way behind as still suffering with this year's lurgy, (along with Mr Sl, who caught it from me) but I just wanted to say about the mountainous pens that have been mentioned. What sort of ink do you use? - I have always heeded the advice to use their own and still have several bottles from having one in each office (home, and two offices, plus 2 spares, bought when the base of the BBC building in London's Aldwych was closing the shops and cafes for redevelopment and I bought two in the closing down sale). I really must get the fountain pen cleaned and resume using itSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

I never used to have a problem remembering my pins as they had to be used every time you used a card. Now with contactless I get this sinking feeling when it says to put the card in. It isn't that I think I have forgotten it but more of a which one is it. Yet when I come to use the NWs little machine to log in online I just put the pin in without thinking. Our minds do work in funny ways.

Hello Saturday Savers & thanks for all your comments & contributions, which I've enjoyed reading as usual. I'll respond properly tomorrow or Monday when I'm on my laptop.
Pleasantly gentle sort of day with plenty of leisure. Budget-helping aspects as follows:
*Baked the sourdough loaf I made yesterday.
*Cheese scones & cappucino for breakfast in garden centre cafe. Used our Personal Spends so this was budget-neutral.
*The few seed varieties on our list were all in stock & we didn't buy any extras as we have everything else we need in my seed box. Mr F didn't buy shallot sets as the only 2 varieties in stock are both cheaper to buy loose at our little village garden centre.
*Resisted temptation of the garden centre post-Christmas sale. Wasn't lured into looking at all the festive stuff as nothing we need, but I did need to be strong on the home fragrance, lovely toiletries, etc. Really big reductions on scented soy wax candles & I almost cracked but told myself firmly that I received 2 nice ones for Christmas. Considered buying a couple for gifts but went off the idea when I noticed the colossal amount of airmiles involved in importing them. Felt it kind of wiped out the non-polluting nature of the soy wax & found it a lot easier to leave them in the shop. Mr F treated himself to a lovely soap - £1.63 instead of several pounds.
*Mr F investigated why our weekend newspaper subscription barcode didn't work this morning which did result in us getting our paper. We've paid for it so were reluctant to lose the money.
*Cheat's roast dinner as we are using the turkey slices in gravy I froze on Turkey Dismantling Day plus sharing a portion of leftover stuffing. Have bought fresh veg, but apart from that, it feels like a free meal.
*Finished my shawl!! I just need to sew in a very few ends after I've finished chatting to you. I shan't put a photo up until it's been through the drip-dry blocking process as the lacy fan pattern section will show up better after that. For fellow-knitters, the pattern is 'Moments' by designer Belinda Harris-Reid. Mine is knitted in purple & black. Just need a warm dry day for line blocking now so may have a bit of a wait.
*Discussed decluttering & various plans.
Right, time to close the curtains & cosy up for the evening. We are planning to watch a film - "Starveacre' which I bought for Mr F for Christmas as he ia a big fan of the folk horror genre. Unlike him, I've resd the novel & have suggested we watch it entirely by candlelight. And I have a very decent-sized slosh of ginger wine left.
Until next time,
