Resourcefulness: The budgeter's friend

Sorry you're still feeling crook, it's a small consolation there's something you can take for it though even if that does bring a new version of feeling shoddy. As you say, just got to ride it out. Many sympathies though, these things are most unjust.
Would it be useful to have some dry shampoo on standby for any future vertigo intrusions?

Nothing worse that vertigo. The first time i had it I had to ring a friend to come and wake Mr mr LH up as I literaly couldnt move and it was before the days of mobile phones. I shouted but he was sound asleep and dint hear me. He got a bit of a shock being woken by someone else.6

Morning (just!) & thanks for your sympathy. Much appreciated. It was clear from this morning before I took my tablets that the vertigo is still present. On previous occasions when I've had it, it's lasted about 2 weeks, so I am hoping to ride it out.
@PennysIntoPounds - I can see that dry shampoo might well help on these occasions, although once I'd had some tablets, I was able to manage what vaguely passed for a shower.
@ladyholly - I can well imagine that situation. It's awful, isn't it? The hair wash attempt incident was the worst I've ever had it. While vile at the time, it has probably been useful in that I know that certain head positions are an absolute no-no & that I definitely need something nearby to hang onto to wait out its passing.
Well, despite still being afflicted, I have managed to do a few of the usual money-saving bits & pieces:
*Did a bit of non-bendy cleaning using the usual minimal products & washable cloths. Am getting on well with the 'green bleach' I bought to try. Today I've used it on our belfast sink, which it has brought back to white & also on a grubby washing-up bowl I was thinking of replacing. No need to do so just yet as it has come up very clean. I just bought a little bit from the local Eco Refill shop to see if I rated it as a cleaner rather than potentially waste money, but I shall defo get some more when this runs out.
*Credit card statement notification pinged into my inbox, so I have printed that off & reconciled it against receipts & my CC Payment Logsheet. Everything exactly as expected, just one transaction to pay & as I've written myself a note to do this before the due date of the 29th, it can be charged, as planned, to September's budget. Loyalty points building nicely towards another £10 voucher.
*Checked for surveys, but none to be had & as I shan't have my laptop on for the rest of the day, they have forgone my wisdom & sarky comments for the day!
*A bit more knitting for the presents bag.
*Re-stake an errant tomato plant so as to try & avoid picking lots of green ones. The original cane has snapped below the soil level so yesterday's wind blew it over. I think I can re-stake it with a spare cane but will need to use the grabber to lift it up so as to do as little bending as possible, I shall most likely be ok now I've had my tablets but I'd rather treat the evil ear with caution & not take the p*ss atm! I intend to pick all the ripe tomatoes I can reach without bending over. Mr F says he'll get the others tomorrow as I need to concentrate on staying upright. I started a new book last night - one of the titles on my library list - Kathy Reichs's latest novel - so I shall get on with that this afternoon out on the coffee bench with Soot if he feels like joining me.
Wishing everyone a thoroughly decent Friday,

A very productive morning. Hope you have a lovely restful afternoon full of reading and uprightness5

Thanks, @PiP. I have been pretty restful this afternoon - knitting, reading & just a small activity break to gather a big colander of tomatoes & 500g blackberries - only the ones I could sensibly reach, though. The beans need picking too & I almost went ahead with that but decided to leave for when Mr F is around so he can help with the v high/v low ones &/or winch me out of a large raised bed if my ear sends my balance proper doolally.
Btw, meant to ping you a small tale about a London house price but forgot. Will try to remember when I have the figures by my side.

I really hope the vertigo clears up soon and you can get back to normal. I used to work with someone who suffered from it and remember her wearing a woolly hat when she had a flare up, not sure why but must’ve helped her.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I am sitting quietly and crosslegged waiting on the story carpet like in nursery @foxgloves!
@Sun_Addict are you sure she wasn't just covering her hair cos she also couldn't wash it 😁5 -
Greetings Money Savers, & here we are in a new week, hopefully keeping our mitts firmly on our Monday pence!
Managed to pass the weekend without much in the way of vertigo. The over-the-counter tablets definitely help & although drowsy-making, they don't have the zonking-out qualities of the ones I have been given on prescription on previous occasions. Even went into town, although I did have to ask Mr F to pass me items of shopping which were on the bottom shelf to avoid bending over & going loop-the-loop in public. Anyway, a new week & I am off to a good start. I seem to have got 'Doing-stuff-itis' today. It's probably that slight hint of Autumn in the air this morning, luring me into my favourite season, as well as all the sorting out/decluttering I want to do.
Today's budget-helping activities:
*4 loads of laundry to make best use of the windy weather - includes another 2 pillows laundered as I am working my way through bigger items I'd rather get dry outside for free, rather than pay for heated airer time.
*Baked a crusty loaf.
*Leftover wrap for lunch.
*Did triage of the tomatoes - 800g ripest ones separated off for making gigantes plakis tomorrow.
*Weighed out 1kg of blackberries ready for jamming tomorrow - also checked sugar (plenty in pantry so no need to buy) & sorted out some suitable jars from my stash.
*Did my regular Monday morning budget updates - mostly groceries & Personal Spends, although I also took advantage of a 3 for 2 offer to choose a couple of cheery little items to pop away into the Presents Bag.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & porridge pot.
*Did a couple of surveys - slow work on these this month.
*Today's garden pickings: Carrots & a small bunch of grapes.
*Practically zero-effort meal tonight as Mr F made enough lovely green bean macaroni cheese yesterday to feed us tonight as well.
Still to do:
*Continue editing my big recipe file & start copying the best of the 'keepers' into a nice new notebook.
*Knit a few more rounds of the 1st of 2 pairs of socks I'm making for Mr F for the Presents Bag.
Oh, & I also saved a very small amount of pence by NOT falling for Soot's latest.......he was given his lunch biscuits at the usual time, ate them in a flash then immediately came to find me in mega biscuit pester mode. I think he thought that if he did this instantly, when it was still technically 'biscuit time', I might forget he'd already had them & serve up another helping. Mission aborted when he spotted an old one down the side of the kitchen dresser & became engrossed in winkling it out.
Right, a quick tidy now, then I shall get on with afternoon stuff.
Hope everyone's getting off to a decent start to the week. It's surprising how much more energy I have today with the muggy conditions having gone - I've been fairly zipping about!
