Hope the vertigo b*ggers right off pronto m'dear. Worth trying to get a nurse appointment to make sure there's no minor issue with ears?6

Vertigo's horrid. I had a bout last year and found (to my amazement) that the Epley manoeuvre ended it first time, once I did it correctly - lots of videos and instructions on line. (Depends on whats causing it I guess - this is for repositioning calcium carbonate crystals which have strayed into the semicircular canal).
And thank you for your splendid diary!7 -
Morning Campers & thanks so much for the sympathy.
@ladyholly - Yes, I have found the tablets you mention helpful in the past & am intending to buy some. The prescription drug I was given for 2 long-ago spells of vertigo were very effective, but I didn't like how drugged-up they made me feel.
@potplant - That is really interesting, as I am aware of the 'Ebley Manouevre' but have never tried it. I am intending to do so if necessary. I did have 2 or 3 vertiginous attacks during the night but so far, I haven't had any this morning since I have been up & about. I can tell my ear is not right, so I definitely can't say it's on its way out, but even a reduction in incidents is a bonus as far as I am concerned. I am intending a calm afternoon of reading on our shady coffee bench.
@PennysIntoPounds - I have no plans atm to make an appt at the surgery. I have had this before & know what to do. If it lingers, then I will reconsider. I will just end up on those blimming tablets & on both previous occasions, I found it quite difficult to come off them, so would rather avoid them if possible.
Today's budget-helping efforts:
*Sorted out a very large bowl of tomatoes so as to get the ripest ones into the fridge. Have postponed my planned ketchup-making session until tomorrow because I forgot to ask Mr F to reach the cauldron down for me from the top of the kitchen cupboards. I do have a good sturdy set of steps, but I don't feel that ascending those in my current state would be sensible. Never mind, nothing will be wasted.
*Watered veg garden & sent a large slug who was shoulders deep in one of our tomatoes on a long package holiday to Pricklyland-by-the-Shed.
*V low effort meal tonight as made sufficient yesterday to feed us for 2 days. Just need to heat it up & cook some rice.
*Washed a couple of pillows to make best use of a hot day for free line drying.
*Did belated Monday morning budget updates as I want everything as straight as possible before my regular mid-month budget check-in on Thursday. Updated groceries, personal spends, did a couple of transfers from savings pots, all the usual stuff to keep us on target.
*Surveys - will check, but if none by lunchtime, that's it until tomorrow as I shall be switching my laptop off & their chance to acquire my opinions will have been lost for the rest of today! Won't be cashing out much on PA this month by the looks of things, but will keep at it.
*Sorted some loyalty vouchers from Mr F's credit card into voucher wallet.
*Have set up swift ready to wind a skein from the event I went to with my sis into a ball ready to cast on a pair of socks for Mr F - either birthday or Christmas. B-i-L's socks were finally finished last night while watching an old episode of 'This country'.
*Today's garden pickings: A few pears to bring indoors to see if they are sufficiently ripe to eat, a few more blackberries (ongoing) for adding to a freezer container which is building up for jam.
*Made tomorrow's packed breakfast & lunch.
And that is it, as I want to have a gentle afternoon reading to assist any ear improvement that might be going on.
Keep your mitts on your pence, m'dears,
F x

I loved This Country, must have a re-watch soon as I know its on iplayer. Thanks for the reminder5 -
@PiP - Recently re-watched Bridget Christie's 'The Change' too. I found I quite fancied being an eel sister, lol. Did you enjoy that one too?

Hoping the vertigo is easing now? Mr KK’s family (gran, mum, sister, Mr KK), all had / have it to varying degrees and it is horribly debilitating. If the epley manoeuvre is the one where you roll across a mattress (very poor description!), then they all hate doing it but swear by it.KKAs at 15.07.25:

To my shame I haven't watched it @foxgloves it was recommended to me with a warning that it would make me angry and as I'm already generally angry enough I thought I should wait till I can appreciate her work rather than just being further furious 😁
And not that other people's relationships are any of my business, but I'm also really quite cross on her behalf that her husband, Mr Superior Lefty, apparently cheated on her and is now hooked up with a younger version, so very much waiting until I am in a chill enough state of mind to only view it to appreciate her achievement5 -
Hello Diary Readers,
Thanks for all your comments & contributions. Didn't get around to posting yesterday as I had a horrendous attack of vertigo mid-afternoon. It was self-inflicted to a degree, as I decided to wash my hair but couldn't manage the bending. I ended up clinging onto the bathroom sink for dear life while my brain & ear wrestled over which way was 'up'. Had to phone Mr F at work & ask him to bring me some stugeron tablets, which thankfully he was able to do. He did get the usual 3rd degree while buying them, so I've ordered more supplies online this morning so that I can ride out the storm. I've had it before & it does settle, so I shall dose myself up between now & the end of the weekend then try Monday without tablets to see if it has settled. What a damned nuisance is is. Anyway, enough rambling about the evil ear & onto today's budget-helping activity:
*Labelled the tomato ketchup I made yesterday from our homegrown tomatoes & put it away in the pantry.
*Decided on next week's meal plans prioritising food we have in stock & garden produce.
*Wrote grocery shopping list which was encouragingly small. Mr F says he has 2 x £1 off vouchers for a couple of items on it & a quick count-up of pouches revealed that Soot & Ash don't need any new meat this week, so that's a a saving as those 40-pouch boxes do gobble a chunk of one's weekly grocery budget (although the cats are worth every penny, of course).
*Began a list for town on Saturday. Shall need to visit eco-refill shop for a couple spices & pumpkin seeds so have added ground almonds too, as I shall be able to buy the exact amount needed for my cake, whereas I know the supermarket packets are either too small or too big.
*Baked a wholemeal loaf.
*Did my regular mid-month budget check-in. No nasty surprises jumped out, which is always a relief. I have £5-56 more than I was expecting, anyway.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Will be rounding up some of the veg I have picked recently for roasting this afternoon, as I am serving roast veg bulgur with tonight's meal.
*Today's garden pickings: Probably just carrots, a chilli & some basil, as I have plenty to use up atm. Can always pop out for some other bits & pieces if needed.
After I've sorted out the veg for roasting, I intend to have a calm afternoon of reading & maybe knitting, but will be avoiding bending, extreme moves & tipping my head in other ways which the evil ear doesn't like. I did eventually manage to wash my hair later when the tablets had kicked in, so at least I haven't got vertigo AND horrid string hair - a small result, at any rate,
