Quite a gentle day today, as haven't been feeling 100%. I have been pottering around though - made another batch of cooked pears & blackberries as both needed using up, have reconciled my credit card statement which arrived today - no nasty surprises & all transactions except for 2 small ones already paid off from the relevant savings pots or grocery budget. Also done some useful online research into the items we want to buy two of our nephews for Christmas. I shan't see 2/3 of the Neffs after our meet-up in November, so I am making sure everything is purchased in good time to avoid the inevitable parcel postage costs if I don't manage it. A quick trot to the post box provided a bit of fresh air & boosted today's pathetic steps. Had intended to try a new recipe tonight - a slow cooker butternut squash curry, but I had failed to put a couple of the ingredients on the shopping list, so have bumped it to next week. Have thawed out a pot of home made pesto to sub in pasta instead. Back in the Spendy Era, missing ingredients would have been carte blanche to phone out for a takeaway - not these days, I think we have about 4 a year now, instead of a naughty one a week added to our permanent overdrafts. We enjoy them much more now, as they feel like a genuine treat.
I can see another survey has popped up, so I will see if I can boost my October earnings a little.

Your jammy buns sound delicious - not surprised that Mr F approves, albeit I do hope he teams up such approval with a "Carry-on" style reference to "liking your buns" - MrEH invariably does precisely this when I suggest making dumplings... Boys, eh?!
I hope the not feeling 100% will pass with a restful evening and a good night's sleep. I confess to feeling a little pesto envy as I used the last remaining blocks of my wild garlic variant a couple of weeks back. One thing that is definitely on my plan of things to grow this year is lots of basil - as I'll have more room for it now!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Jam buns sound excellent and as I have the Crank’s recipe book, I shall investigate. By the time I did ‘food tech’ at school it was all designing pizza boxes and nothing so useful as how to make a nice jammy bun (and in an entirely anti-feminist mode, how to keep a husband well fed/happy). @EH, yes, there’s definitely similarities between the senses of humour of Mr EH and Mr MV! 😂

When I used to make the jammy buns we used to call them jam splodges! Being kids we didn't bother with the handle of the wooden spoon but used a finger, LOL!5

I know jammy buns were on our school syllabus but I don't remember making them.It could have one of the weeks I avoided (bunked off) cookery. The teacher terrified me so I rarely went.6
