Oh Foxgloves, that is not a good way to start the day. I think a stiff drink may be required (purely for medicinal purposes)!4

Let me guess - this is because on closer inspection they have now realised that they are going to have to replace the timbers? I was rather surprised your quote was so cheap - allowing for the insulation, but didn't like to say anything. Unfortunately more often than not the spray stuff does destroy the timbers as well. it was one of our non-negotiables when we bought, that we wouldn't even consider anywhere that had it - but of course when you bought nobody thought it was an issue. I'm really sorry it's come back to bite you on the bum - as you say, thank goodness for EFs.foxgloves said:Grim greetings from Foxgloves Manor this morning as roofing costs have just risen by £3500.
We did wonder if other significant problems would be uncovered & yes they have - most of them as a result of the previous occupant having added that execrable spray-on insulation 24 years ago.
Thank goodness for our Emergency Fund is all I can say.
Am getting on with tasks to try & take my mind off it but it's not working very well yet.

It might be worth getting hold of a copy of the Square Foot Garden (or Square Meter Garden as the updated version is!) from the library or CS. It's particularly useful for some plots. Wish I still had my copy but think it got sent to the CS many years ago as can't find it anywhere!BlueJ94 said:Evening @foxgloves, I somehow managed to make your diary dissappear from my favourites without even realising, oops!

Sorry missed your post Mrs F. That's awful news. Thank goodness you have a good EF. Going to take a while to rebuild it after the roof is done and paid for. That spray on insulation has a lot to answer for. It's something my DH wanted to do when we bought this property but I put my foot down and said NO. So glad I did and we just have normal fibreglass stuff.4

Oh no, that's an awful lot of extra money to find. Good job you have an EF, but you don't want it all wiped out in one go. Best get onto some survey sites and start making some extra money, and tell Mr FG its beans on toast for the rest of the year.Making the debt go down and savings go up
