Happy birthday RobM99! And at a mere 67 you’re still a pup compared to the (remaining) Stones & Beatles, Page & Plant etc not to mention bass-playin’ luminaries such as John Mcvie, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones, Roger Waters, all of whom have a good few years on you.

Do you have a particular style to your bass playing, is there someone you try to emulate? And has it always been the bass or did you make the switch from lead or rhythm guitar to the bass? Sorry for the Q’s just interested!
I started off playing guitar after seeing Ten Years After on TV and on the Woodstock film. I watched Alvin Lee intently and decided "I want to do that"! I took up bass when a friend was stuck for a bassist. I foolishly agreed to do the gig which was pretty daft of me as I didn't have a decent bass or any amplification (I think a weak shandy may have been responsible! Tenuous link to the thread there).
I don't try to emulate although I've nicked a few bits from Norman Watt-Roy (Blockheads, Wilko Johnson).  I think Jack Bruce was great, also Helmutt Hattler. Many, many more far better than I will ever be. I think, because I played lead guitar, my bass playing is maybe a tad more melodic than some. Playing 'pub rock' just needs a solid backing but I try to add bits, I like to use harmonics as well. next step - fretless....    Makes me sound great but I'm not - just enthusiastic! Thanks for the Q's

    3/26 for me today please.

Did an hour of litter picking whilst dog-walking, I may do a bit more on this afternoon's dog-walk. Mutt loves to mooch, so is happy at the slow pace. Morning and evening walks are much brisker.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
