CuppaTea said:I have got to stop using wine to hide from my problems. It’s making more.
After I got in last night tired and wrecked from a long day of domestic stuff and a row with my sis I really wanted wine. I settled for a fish finger sandwich and a glass of milk and felt a lot better. Even better this morning when I woke up knowing I'd met my plan for yesterday.
I downloaded the Try Dry app last month but haven't been impressed as you can't enter volumes and it keeps getting the drink price wrong. Has anyone got a favourite app I can take a look at?
I am currently undecided about tonight. I plan to drink tomorrow and then I am definitely planning an AF Sunday.3 -

7/18 more dramas with partner's mother sent me for the wine. That and electrical socket nightmare (dont ask). I did however realise something. If I stay our of the shops I find it harder to drink. Last night we needed an emergency tea after dramas so I stopped at M&S for a bung in oven lasagne salad and garlic bread and inevitably bought wine.
Whilst the lasagne cooked I did the horses - umm - if I used my slow cooker more dinner would be ready regardless of his mother and her dramas and I would not be in a shop selling alcohol. Too late for the rest of this month but I am going to dust off the slow cooker and meal plan for next month,.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Hi Watty,
Sorry to hear about your evening. It's so true about staying out of the shops selling alcohol. Unfortunately my other half seems to be buying booze as if he is stocking up for a large party at the moment so no chance of getting a booze-free home for me.
It sounds like a good idea for you to meal plan and use the slow cooker. Thanks for mentioning it, I often trip up at the Hungry stage of the HALT (Hungry Angry Lonely Tired) drinking triggers. In fact I often feel all 4 at the moment even when I'm with my family. I have a meal plan for tonight but need to work on tomorrow. Good luck.

12/20 for me today please.
On Wednesday I suggested son comes with his paperwork and budget and I'll see what can be done to reduce his debts (I used MSE over a decade ago to draw up a realistic budget and pay off our mortgage). I haven't heard from him yet. It's playing havoc with my IBS.
Hope everyone gets some peace very soon.
@Watty1
having a meal-plan is well worthwhile and, if you can, have a few home-cooked meals in the freezer. I use a fortnightly meal-plan, and regularly batch cook chicken, spinach and chick-pea curry (add powdered coconut milk at the reheating stage). I also batch cook the easiest dhal ever - chopped onions, turmeric, red lentils and spice plus boiling water, then simmer until thick (maybe 40 minutes). Also batch-cook mince and freeze half as savoury mince and add tomatoes and basil to the remainder and freeze that. The mince can then become cottage pie or bolognese or chilli with minimal effort - or lasagna with a bit more effort. If I was super organised I guess I could make the mince into finished dishes, but so far I haven't.What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?2 -
