6/18 as did not drink last night although it was a very close run thing. I have not been posting and yes I have slipped again.  I did ok for the first 5 days then I gave up.    If I try to find a positive I am not drinking so much that I am losing whole days to hangovers but i am struggling to stay A/F.    The only reason I'm not losing the days to hangovers is I am drinking small bottles of wine instead of large ones so I could count that as a positive but I know I am struggling to stick at that so I won't count it as a win but will recognise I have cut down.

This has been an ongoing struggle since leaving my ex 4 years ago, there then followed years of abuse finally ending in a court order and then the struggle of splitting the property and my mental health declined not helped by drinking naturally.   Then just as I started to pull myself out of that my partners mother in law started "drama around being ill" and she is so manipulative (she is not actually sick it seems just old) it triggered me and i started drinking again.

There more than anyone here needed to know.  But I am struggling.  however 6/18.  I have no idea how I will get to the end of the month so I am going to just focus on getting to 10 am.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Hello Watty, I am so sorry to hear of all your struggles. Good luck and I hope you got to 10am. I have found dealing with caring - really more entertaining than caring - someone older and demanding is a really big trigger and I am at least related to him. I hope you find a way to deal with how your MIL feels so you can find the struggle easier. I have no advice as I am doing very poorly but didn't want to read and run. xxx

@Watty1 I'm also really sorry to hear you've been struggling - you have been through such a lot, and dealing with ageing/difficult family members can be very complicated and draining. Just wanted to offer moral support. The only helpful thought I can offer is that I always used to deal with the urge to drink by thinking "I'm allowed to drink but not now, I won't do it yet, maybe later", and then the urge would pass for a time and when it came back I would deal with it the same way. Sometimes I would think "not today, but I'm allowed tomorrow". Then tomorrow rolls round and you deal with it the same way again. I found that helped a lot. Could you perhaps afford therapy/counselling? It might help you work through the distress. I found therapy very useful back in the day. I hope things get easier for you soon xx

Hope you're okay @Watty1. Be kind to yourself. Can I declare 19/21 please? I will probably have a drink or two on Thursday just to get through a department "team building". My favourite activity....

Sending you a big hug @Watty1. 🤗 I'm sure you'll feel better if you do manage an AF night tonight, at least that's something in your control.

    13/10AFDs please @cathybird

Hope the early night works @Watty1.

And I’m being a bit pathetic here but @cathybird please can I have the Nemo emoji? I don’t think I will make the target achieved stars though.
