Octopus over charging

Hi,
      My Octopus energy electricity bill says I am being charged 48.44p per kWh. The government and Ofgen say the maximum I can be charged is 34p per kWh. Why am I being over charged so much? I have an ordinary metre and pay by monthly direct debit.

Has it not got an entry that says "energy price guarantee" with a sum subtracted?

You can work out what you should have been charged. How many kWh have you used and what is the final "total electricity charges" given.

Does it say what tariff you're on? Presumably it's a fixed rate?

Yes its fixed.

It certainly looks like they haven't included the EPG refund. Presumably it's a manual calculation for all the different fixes. If you're on Twitter it's worth sending them a DM, their team there's very responsive and generally on the ball.

so, that's so far this month, 28/29 units a day, seems a lot?
