I had a lovely high limit on my BC and then they slashed it by more than 90%.  I think this is because they didn't actually hold a credit agreement with me as I had never applied for a BC.  The card I applied and got stopped being a product about 20 years back and the customer base was bought by various companies eventually landing with BC.  They had happily increased my limit over a number of years but then they got a bit strict about 5 years back and started slashing a lot of limits with very little notice.

When a Credit Card Company buys a Card Portfolio, they transfer the agreement over and as they issues the new T&C within the required notice, by law if you do not cancel the card, you have agreed by default to the new terms.

BC have slashed a lot of limits during and after the first lock down. There were reports that they had decided to change exposure strategy and as far as I read and my own personal experience, they slashed the excessive limits that were not often used. My own was more then halved but it would still probably be considered an healthy limit on these boards… conversely at the same time, Amex and HSBC had increased mine further and I did not have any new Credit applications going on at that time.

My BC Reward limit is £10k.  However, my Halifax Clarity limit is only £2.5k.  I do have another CC with Halifax that has a £13k limit.

If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

Had a forward card for about 5 years and every year I’ve asked to change it and they always refuse.

Only keep it because it’s one of my oldest cards but really I should just get rid.

Glad they upgraded you though, although I read on this forum I’m sure earlier in the year they no longer offer upgrades on the forward and you have to close and reapply for a new account. Did you just ask the chat?

My BC rewards card has a limit of £4,000. It has gradually risen from a starting point of £2,000. I recently got a Halifax Clarity card as the Barclaycard limit is insufficient for an upcoming holiday. Halifax have started me off with £5,000.

Have you tried in the app yourself? When you log in and click on the “Cards” icon, and then scroll sideways to your Forward cards (assuming you have at least a Barclays account debit card as well, otherwise it will only show you the one card), now scroll down and tap on “Change to a different card”. It should show you options opened to you. I always have options available but I have read reports that for some it alternates between available options and no options, even on the same day, like very early in the morning it would show some options and late on the same day it would come up with “no other card available” message.

Yep, it was all done in the app when it showed eligibility for card change.

I currently have a limit of £6k with BC Rewards. When I first got it, I had a limit of £3750, but after a year or so I rang up and asked for an increase in the credit limit and they increased it to £6k.

My BC Platinum was initially £5,000. I increased the limit manually every 6 months, first to £6,000. At that point I changed the card type from Platinum to Rewards. Then another increase to £7,000 and eventually to £8,200. Then I took their money transfer offer and almost maxed out the card. After a few months, as I was paying the money back slowly, they reduced my limit to £7,250 and so far I can't increase it back.

Just have a new 0% Purchase offer on the card popped up today, but the 0% rate is only until the 1st August.
