@shell16 thankyou. Its nice to see it written down. Will spur me on as I tend to give up. I do have a lot I can resell courtesy of ever growing teens, have another 50 ish in topcashback, its not payable yet. Monthly payments I'm quite restricted so I'll need to be proactive to push it down. I'm trying not to spend unless it's necessary which will help. I'm an impulse and boredom buyer hence the debt I have

Small direct debit left today.
I need to pay off 8.33% per month and one small direct debit to go, so for January I will hit my target which is great news.I’m still undecided on approach as presently paying highest debt % but think I might revert to lowest balance to free that part up as interested saved is not a significant factor and key is I get all cleared by end of DecemberChallenges

Hi I’m a newbie, please can I join?As a couple, me and my husband are serial over-spenders and although we have good jobs our spending habits have got us in a pickle - we’re in a debt spiral and it has to end! We’re cutting back as much as possible and hoping to be totally debt free by the time our 10 yr fixed mortgage is up for renewal in Dec 2024.Credit card debt £15,572
Next £1,655
Loan £20,716
Overdraft £2,300
We aim to pay off £7,600 off the credit cards, all of the Next account and £6,500 off the loan by Christmas 2023. We also hope to get out of the overdraft and stay out of it for good!4 -

Hi. I’ve read all the thread and wondered if I can join. I have one debt left a loan with £13,750 left to pay. There’s no way I will pay it all this year I’ve been quite poorly with my mental health and recently gone back to work part time but I get universal heed it and pip. As well as trying to overpay my loan I’m trying to build some savings it’s and an emergency fund. I’d ideally like to get the loan to £8000 by December which needs a £2500 overpayment so that’s how much I’d like to try and overpay. It won’t be easy but I’ll give it a go7

So nice to see the thread so active. I'm a bit thin on the ground in terms of payments, but I still read along to stay inspired.
@olaf2014, I second what Shell16 has said, please don't put pressure on yourself. Do what you can and focus on small achievable goals, and if needed, reduce the overall target. I dropped mine by £2,000 as life happens and paying debt in record speed time isn't the be all and end all of things. Being on maternity leave is tough as it affects your disposable income, and there's very little you can do to change that. But have a look at the survey sites, and things will sell and there's also things like mystery shopping or mystery dining to check out. I think if you develop the habits you need to reduce spending and balance a budget (I'm not saying you're incapable of this at the moment), then that will put you in the strongest position for when your maternity leave ends. As it's the resourceful habits that determine our mindset and overall success. As you could chuck everything you have at debt, but it creeps back if other things don't change (I've done this a few times so talk from experience).
Best of luck keep plodding away any way that you can. We're all here to support each other.x
