Hi All
Thank you for your best wishes. I’m in a swings-and-roundabouts mood at the moment, waiting for the biopsy results and an invitation for an “urgent” CT scan. They found a 3cm lump which, from the description on the notes, sounds like it was the site of the bleed. (God bless the NHS app, which gives you copies.)
I’m trying not to worry; I know there are multiple different possible outcomes. The biopsy results should be ready at the end of next week. Then I’ll worry. (Actually, my biggest worry is not missing that CT appointment. We’re going to Miami on 12th July for 2 weeks and I really need the paperwork, to ensure it occurs either before our trip or in August when we’re back.). In the mean time, they’ve told me to take my drugs twice a day instead of once, so I will have to request another prescription from my GP. Hopefully, I’ll get to talk to the good GP at the practice, since it’s bound to need an appointment.
On the knitting front: I’ve almost finished a couple of pairs of socks - just need to redo the toe of one and weave in the ends on the second pair. The jumper remains in time-out, until I have the brain space to work out the next step of the pattern. I don’t need any more socks, but I really need brain-dead stuff to work on at the moment and they’re straightforward.

@Laura_Elsewhere - how was the dentist?"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

@PipneyJane, I shall keep my ginfers very frimly scrosed for the CT scan to show nicely-treatable stuff, and for the timing to work with your trip away!
I found the dentists at the new Research Establishment very good - as is usual with my poor wreck of a mouth, none of the three went according to plan, and I've had to have a second full day in bed... I got up and dressed this morning and literally went straight back to bed, exhausted! But now I am feeling very bored of this tedious "recovery" stuff, and my nursing aunt always said that irritable boredom was a very positive sign in any bedbound patient
I'm trying to work out why I have made very little this year - normally once the present-knitting is done, by December, I enjoy planning and making things for myself for a few months, but I haven't even knitted a sock, let alone a slipover or cardigan, haven't made anything, not sewn, not crocheted... I've tinkered around the edges of things, I've planned to start things, but... why haven't I??2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@PipneyJane, sympathy over the waiting time, uncertainty is hard. Hoping all goes as uneventfully as possible and you are soon in Miami having a relaxing time.
@Laura_Elsewhere, sorry you had a tough time over the dental work, plus a frustrating recovery. I don't know what to suggest about the lack of knitting. If it were me, it would mean I had got to a tricky bit in every project and was waiting for dedicated time and energy to appear magically, to solve it. If you feel ill at ease with no knitting, could you start the Christmas knitting now? Or if you just aren't interested, is there something else that takes your fancy? Spinning, perhaps, or leather work?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'm going to have to think very carefully about my final spends. I need a new pair of trainers. I keep running out of my white vests.
@PipneyJane - Hope that everything goes well. Fingers crossed.
@Laura_Elsewhere, Hope you are feeling better soon.
Regarding washing of clothes. It depends on the time of the year. I wear long sleeved t-shirts so that my jumpers only need to be washed a couple of times a year. Jeans, I can now go a week between washes. Linen trousers I have managed two days. Knickers / socks daily. Everything else two / three days unless really hot weather. I am getting better at not washing things after every use.

Pip - Sending best wishes and fingers crossed here for a good outcome.Laura - I wonder if one of the reasons that you haven't made much is due to having to sort out your stuff that was in storage - it probably took up a lot of your time. The smallest baby item I knitted was a 2 ply wool "hug me tight" wrap around cardigan for my son.(I didn't peep) He was born 9lb and didn't fit him for as long I would have liked. I have kept the item. He's 34 now.
The washing event and doing reduced is very interesting. As a child, pyjamas were worn for a week, the bedding the same. As there were 4 children I can see the need to keep it as low as possible that washing pile as mum hated doing the ironing. It was standard in our house for the ironing pile to be as high as the back of a stand chair. I also learnt on here about the amount of times you can wear wool socks without the need for washing. I now do 4 to 5 days on wool socks. (Thanks @Laura_Elsewhere ) I draw the line for clean underwear daily. I do spot check clothes that can be worn again. I'd have less to do if I wore a bib! I do wear an apron when cooking but as it doesn't full fit over big bussoms I still get the same problem. Bathroom towels are all black from our previous colour co-ordinated bathroom have been re dyed twice and they always get a sniff test before getting a wash. When we have showered they get pegged outside to dry. We like them crispy in this house.
I think a lot of people have too many clothes, this, in this country is pretty much unavoidable with the varying weathers that we experience. Hopefully we are all learning to reduce, repurpose and make our lives easier on this journey.
Take care all

Oh gosh, turn my back for a couple of weeks (due to being snowed under, what with things falling off the backs of lorries, and trying to dig for victory) and I find a couple of you in the sick bay! Sending you every good wish for swift & positive outcome, @PipneyJane, and swift healing vibes to @Laura_Elsewhere too.
