Evening all.
l have had a few spends this month but I'm pleased with how it's going so far.
greatly helped by leftovers and not used food from Christmas as well as olio.
I needed milk today and just as I was heading off to the co op I had an email with a £1 off voucher which was excellent timing.
balance remaining £227

My first food shop of 2023 was on Saturday and all I can say is how horrified I am at the amount spent - $88.35
. I purchased virtually nothing for that and got nothing "special" like fish which is known to be super expensive. From what I could tell, everything seems to have shot up again by 10 or 20 cents here and there from before Christmas. Some items I bought like butter will last for a couple of weeks (I hope). Included in the spend is some food for a shared meal I am cooking this week.
Some items like eggs are expensive everywhere, but it is still really shocking after these past few months to see items still increasing. Also, the items on offer/sale last week were primarily for junk food. Hoping that is just because it was the week after the holidays (getting rid of stock etc.) but we shall see.
I will definitely not hit my budget this month (will probably blow through it later this week...) but I am not going to change it. I will do my best to buy as little and as cheap (but still nutritious) as possible and have a better idea for February. I have a pot of broccoli soup on and will be making a pot of tomato soup and chili tomorrow. These will be shared with someone so that we can both cut down on food costs. Now I'm strictly tracking spending on individual items and I'm going to start looking at price per meal calculations.
My current spend is $88.35/$150 for a household of one. ($61.65 remaining)

I have a problem to work out! My lactose free cathedral city cheese is £1.90in Asda at the moment. £2.65 in Tesco. I usially by about 6 packs when it is on offer so that is a saving of about £4.00 but it is slightly out of our way. So petrol costs may negate the saving. 🤷♀️. I am off to check what else they have on offer to make it worth my while.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Used the last of the Christmas brie and the last two vegan sausages to make melty sausage wraps for lunch. Wraps from Olio so that was good price lunch! Tonight I am making mix veg curry - and tomorrow will mix leftovers with a good fridge clear out of more veg and ends of sauces to make sticky curry tray bake.

Spent £39.35 at Lidls over the weekend.
Made a soup for dinner from veg that I would normally have thrown out at this stage. I usually meal plan, but this challenge is really making me think about what I have in the cupboard, what I'm buying and what I'm wasting (or not anymore)Make £2023 in 2023: £401.64/£2023
