@FoxFace you bean burgers sound great - do you use a particular recipe ?
1 Tin Kidney beans
3 carrots
1 onion
gram flour (reg flour would be fine)
Ground coriander, cumin, paprika and oregano
panko breadcrumbs (optional)
- finely dice onion, fry in oil until softened.
- grate the carrots, add to the pan and mix until carrot softens
- add about 1/2tsp of each spice and herb (start here but add more to taste)
- Drain, rinse and finely chop kidney beans in a food processor (or by hand)
- add the beans to the pan and mix everything together, take off the heat
- mix in 2tbl gram flour and mix until it is a firm paste
Divide into 4 patties. I also pressed them into some panko breadcrumbs that I had lying around.
popped into the oven on gas 6 for about 20 minutes, but they could easily be fried or grilled.

Third day in row to shops as on hunt for a FR chicken - Lidl £11 for a 2.3kg corn fed FR one - expensive but Sains ones were £20!
I also had a voucher for 15% of DF stuff including the milks so just bought loads of those for stores and some vegan shredded cheese also with 15% voucher to try.
Just cooked the chicken in the halogen with roast potatoes and onions, served with steamed kale and peas.. So delicious and healthy. I will later make a curry and a stock with the leftovers but as I bought the biggest bird they had I will get at least 3 more meals out of it plus scraps.
I went to the gym and also swam as well for a second day in a row...
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Forgotten from my last update, £9.85 for compost bags from Amazon but they'll last us about 14 months, if the last purchase is anything to go by.
Today £17.10 for cat litter and cat treats online with Wilko which should come on Wednesday, I don't like to pay the delivery charge but the cat litter is out of stock almost everywhere and the Wilko own brand one is nearly £3 cheaper per bag. I also did an online Boots order (£26.51) for medication and toothpaste but no delivery charge there, I can collect it from our local pharmacy on Tuesday.

Still not withdrawn the House keeping money
We are now starting to run out of some things - dog food will need a purchase tomorrow, even the dogs are on a little reduction of that. Don't get me wrong they do share hooman tit bits1 dog is a bit overweight (ah hem 3kg! - the female one of course! Boy is only interested in his ball) as per the week before Christmas when we had an emergency trip to the vets for the pair of them.
I've run out of porridge oats, so today we had dried up a bit bread as toast for breakfast. DH happy with doing it a bit differently. We are down to £36 in the shopping purse. It will drop rapid when the dog food is purchased at £23.

Spent £22 at Mt T today, but well pleased with myself as I got lots of reduced price things, and it amazing how good at tetris you can get when you only have the freezer box in the fridge, not a full freezer. I saved over £8 from reductions and offers so I am hoping that will see me through this week.

Evening y'all. I've just returned from a rainy walk to and from Tesco for some groceries. I spent £26.18 on YS avocado, YS baby plum tomatoes, a YS 3 pack of red bell peppers, mushrooms, arugula, bok choy, chiles, ginger, 2 eggplants, a red onion, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, a 2 for £2 deal of a pineapple combined with a bag of mandarins (easy peelers), YS pork belly slices, a smoked gammon joint, capers, and mozzarella.
I'm really proud of how well I stuck to my list, only deviating with a few items which looked good or were YS. My goal was to come in around £20 – £25 and I'm pleased with the results.
There was no parsley which was on my list. The herbs section was totally obliterated and in general there were a lot of empty spaces on shelves throughout the store. Later this week I'll stop at M & S for milk and parsley.
£90.00 / £300.00 spent so far. £210.00 remaining.
I need to remember to keep some money back for next week Friday when head to a larger city for the weekend. There's an Asian store where I'm planning to stock up items like sesame oil, tamari, curry paste, kimchi, ramen, etc. and there's an Italian store where I'll be stocking up on Italian sausage, a particularly hard to find pasta, etc. I'd completely forgotten about them when setting my budget for this month. If I set my regular budget to about £25 per remaining week in January, that should leave me with enough bulk buffer for the special store shopping. Let's see how we go9 -
I've been shopping for this week
Shopping
1x Sweet potato 59p
2x Natural yoghurt 2 @ 45p each
1kg Wonky carrots 58p
7x Bananas 88p
500g 10% Minced Beef £2.65
1x Red Pepper 29p
1x Bag of spinach 76p
= £6.65
Carried forward - 18.35 - £6.65 = £11.70
The menu for this week is
Breakfast
5x Porridge with 80g frozen HG fruit
2x Porridge with a banana
Lunch
5x Carrot and lentil soup
2x Leek and Potato soup
Dinner
1x Potato, leek and bacon bake, with cabbage all veg HG (made last week)
1x Roast turkey dinner using frozen leftover turkey and HG veg, Yorkshire Pudding and gravy
2x Squash stew, chickpeas, onion, tinned toms, HG squash with potato wedges.
2x Turkey and sweet potato curry with yoghurt Naan
2x Cottage pie minced beef, onion, HG potato and veg, Yorkshire Pudding (1 portion for next week)
Snacks/Desserts
5 x banans
Rice pudding
Yoghurt with a teaspoon of honey, jam or golden syrup
All the sweets and biscuits from Christmas have gone as have most of the homegrown fruit. There is no need to eat fruit because there is plenty of veg in my diet, but I like it. The cheapest fruit I can find which can be eaten as either 80g or 1 piece as part of five a day is ALDI banans. These cost 12.6p each, does anyone know of a cheaper fruit?
