Someone somewhere says calls are up 12 times? Not really good enough evidence there and potentially smoke and mirrors used as an excuse by energy companies so that their running costs 20% margin is not targeted.

if you want 'independent' evidence then its not perfect but you can look at the number of complaints accepted by the ombudsman. each extra complaint means more admin work to respond by the supplier.

every quarter this year is markedly above the previous year.

I would suggest that is a sign of the times and people (like we get here) not understanding what energy they use, how to calculate it and (like we get here) my energy company is ripping me off. The £67/£66 won't have helped either.

However I base that on the microcosm that is this energy forum.
i agree. more people are paying attention to there bills and maybe not understanding how they are laid out or what they mean (and your right the differnt ways the 66 has been shown on the bill really doesn't help).

but if we assume most of those calls are sorted before they get to the ombudsman that still means more work for the customer service. i doubt they've been on a recruitment drive ;) so its not surprising that the quality of the service has gone down.

not saying thats the only reason but a bit of a stretch to say its smoke and mirrors without some evidence.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

I stick by it, a bit like the way with smoke and mirrors the big energy companies laid on the issues thick with the government to give more than I think they should out in free money. Smoke and mirrors.

Occasionally I come across posts and threads outside my little bubble on Twitter and (reluctantly-used) Facebook.  It's the same on there, but without knowledgeable people setting things straight (none at all to be seen on the Facebook posts, Twitter threads occasionally might have someone if they've come to the attention of the right person).
It's VERY similar to all the misunderstandings and exaggerations about benefits.
