  • @Aimingforthegoodlife Please do share your total when the year ends. It's so encouraging to the rest of us to see people's progress, even though I've only been here a little while!
@LittleMissDetermined so sorry you went through layoffs more than once.  I'm self-employed with health conditions, so I will be rebuilding my emergency fund for similar - a period when I can't work or work slows considerably.
A planned sabbatical seems so much more fun though.
@Keedie that's so good you managed to pay that to your Mum! I have had a read through some of your diary so can see how much it means to you to be able to do that despite everything.

    Today:  £96 to debt (CC3)
                £7.06 to bills a month ahead fund/buffer.

£7.06 because the account had a £7.04 and the non-round number was annoying me. Plan is to save £7 weekly.

Really trying to get a month ahead again, especially being self-employed to reduce stress and make budgeting easier, especially being self employed with variable income.
I have a whole broken down month-ahead plan into stages/categories to make it less overwhelming!

    Total so far today: £113.06
    Monthly Challenges| March Grocery Challenge - £255/£330 Make £10 a Day - £112/£310
    2024 Challenges Pay-Off Debt for Christmas - £874/£6000

    Savings Goals Emergency Fund - £75/£2000 |
Month Ahead Bills  |   Month Ahead Minimum Debt Repayments
Month Ahead Grocery -  £0/£30  [Month Ahead True Expenses £0/?]

It really does make a difference @CoffeeSonata being able to make these extra lump sum payments. Your plan for getting ahead with your bills sounds sensible and by doing it in bite sized chunks, it'll be manageable and it will all add up. Hopefully you have or can get an account that will give you a nice interest rate so that it can help to grow your bills pot. My health conditions makes my likelihood being able to manage working in the long term a little uncertain, so I'm trying to get rid of debt so that I can survive on lower budget.

I put some money in my new savings tins, so £15 has gone into one and £2.78 into the other, so £17.78 altogether.

I keep meaning to ask, is anyone able to be counter upper for January 2024? I'm going to set up the new thread for Payment a Day - Chapter 2024 at some point this week.

@LittleMissDetermined how do I make the hyperlinks from one challenge to the other show as words like your diary in your signature? Thanks x

    Morning all,

The total PAD for 11 December 2023 was £186.41

We all have different budgets and lifestyles, and it can be easy to compare ourselves to others. But it's not the amount that we are saving or repaying with debt that matters, it's the consistency. So if you ever feel outpaced, just remember...
