Just picked up an Evri parcel from a local-ish shop.
I chose this option as I didn't know if I'd be in to accept delivery.
    No problems.
Not sure if it would be the same driver.
  • I have no problem with items being delivered to me, via Evri.
I have had terrible experiences with parcels I have sent via them, at all stages of the journey. From booking issues, collection faults, horrendous transit delays (weeks) , missing parcels, partially missing parcel contents, breakages ( despite meticulous packaging) and non- delivery.
I will not use them again.

This is quite an interesting point.
My opinion is based on their delivery performance to me, not their performance to someone who has bought from me (I always use Royal Mail to send parcels).

We agree, Polly, on the good delivery service provided by Evri. I just wanted to say that I send parcels via Evri as well------and I have found them to be just as good and efficient in that role.           A very merry xmas.

Hermes/Evri are the worst company over many years that I have ever received parcels from and the only company to have  claimed to have delivered one evening when they had not - they turned up next day with the parcel - presumably their claimed delivery was to meet a contract target

Didn't watch the story on the local news this week about lost delayed items

Customers of the parcel delivery company EVRi have reported packages going missing or taking weeks to be delivered.

Messages sent to BBC Radio Wiltshire included a report the company had lost a roof box, and items sitting in depots for "weeks".

Several also claimed not to be able to contact the company about their issues.

One of the company's delivery drivers, who wished to remain anonymous, told BBC Radio Wiltshire there will be "horrendous" backlogs this Christmas, because of high demand and low staff numbers.

What if you have a decent, experienced local courier but your parcel is lurking in the depot somewhere and never actually gets put out for delivery and is just sitting there as "sorry your parcel has been delayed" for weeks on end?

As per the link in mjm3346's post, that seems to be quite a common issue at the moment. Poorly managed and run, if there's a lack of staff and the staff that are there are run ragged, that's why you end up with couriers that deliver to the wrong address, or worse....

Yep, absolutely - we can only deliver stuff that has been delivered to us...

I have said to many managers over the years, that if the couriers delivered to customers as badly as Hermes/EvIL delivered to couriers, the company would have gone down the pan years ago..... they missed a trick with the name change - should have been ShoeString Parcels....

Its a shame because i like the job and the money is really good , as i am on top rates being a rural courier, and over the years as volumes have increased dramatically, my delivery area has gotten more and more compact. But i am looking at the exit door of retirement in the not too distant future, i wouldnt want to be starting now for sure.

May I suggest that we bring the great “Evri debate” to a close?  It’s very polarising, some love Evri, some hate it.  Both based on personal experience.

That's a very strange comment to make.
What would be the point of people commenting on a "praise, vent & warnings" forum if their comments were not based on personal experience?
