Evri is not the courier from hell

Just picked up an Evri parcel from a local-ish shop.
I chose this option as I didn't know if I'd be in to accept delivery.
No problems.
Not sure if it would be the same driver.3 -
I have no problem with items being delivered to me, via Evri.I have had terrible experiences with parcels I have sent via them, at all stages of the journey. From booking issues, collection faults, horrendous transit delays (weeks) , missing parcels, partially missing parcel contents, breakages ( despite meticulous packaging) and non- delivery.I will not use them again.2

My opinion is based on their delivery performance to me, not their performance to someone who has bought from me (I always use Royal Mail to send parcels).2 -

Hermes/Evri are the worst company over many years that I have ever received parcels from and the only company to have claimed to have delivered one evening when they had not - they turned up next day with the parcel - presumably their claimed delivery was to meet a contract target
Didn't watch the story on the local news this week about lost delayed itemsCustomers of the parcel delivery company EVRi have reported packages going missing or taking weeks to be delivered.
Messages sent to BBC Radio Wiltshire included a report the company had lost a roof box, and items sitting in depots for "weeks".
Several also claimed not to be able to contact the company about their issues.
One of the company's delivery drivers, who wished to remain anonymous, told BBC Radio Wiltshire there will be "horrendous" backlogs this Christmas, because of high demand and low staff numbers.

Ok, view from the actual coal face for what its worth.....Have been a Hermes/Evri courier for around a dozen years now, delivering on the rural outskirts of a small market town.My feedback from customers is good and i try to do a good job... however this Christmas period ( Peak as we call it ) has been the worst in all those years, obviously covering Royal Mail's failures has been part of that, but we have not been receiving our parcels until around 11 am, so after unloading lorry / receipt scanning parcels / loading my vehicle ( outside in all weathers ) its around 12 noon for 1st delivery, leaving me about 4 hours of daylight to do 100+ drops, as i refuse to work in the dark, i have to cut corners and drive faster round country lanes than is ideal, and no time for a quick chat with customers, sometimes not having time to eat my lunch - and i am a fast, experienced courier who know the delivery area like the back of my hand - newbies starting this time of year have little chance, most of them quit within a week, or fortnight tops - a lot do a day then are not seen again.Management at all levels are useless, area managers bully field managers, field managers try to bully us lot.Where i work we have a shipping container full to the gunnels with parcels dating back to October ( when the courier quit )That round has hardly been touched since then and the pile grows daily.......I could post a lot more, but in summary if you have a decent, experienced local courier you will generally get a decent service.. otherwise it can vary....8

What if you have a decent, experienced local courier but your parcel is lurking in the depot somewhere and never actually gets put out for delivery and is just sitting there as "sorry your parcel has been delayed" for weeks on end?
As per the link in mjm3346's post, that seems to be quite a common issue at the moment. Poorly managed and run, if there's a lack of staff and the staff that are there are run ragged, that's why you end up with couriers that deliver to the wrong address, or worse....2 -

But i am looking at the exit door of retirement in the not too distant future, i wouldnt want to be starting now for sure.0 -
May I suggest that we bring the great “Evri debate” to a close? It’s very polarising, some love Evri, some hate it. Both based on personal experience.
Merry. Christmas

What would be the point of people commenting on a "praise, vent & warnings" forum if their comments were not based on personal experience?1
