Shop Charity in '23!

We had a lot of fun trawling the charity shops on a mutual day off! DH bought a painting for a tenner, and one of those things you put kitchen roll tubes on (£1.25). Both Cancer Research, Thirsk.
I got sheepskin boots by Fitflop and a bag of dolls' house furniture. £6.99 for the boots, almost unworn. This season's equivalent were £130, now marked down to £60 online. The dolls' house things were £1.99. All from Oxfam, Helmsley (which is a lovely little shop and recommended to those in North Yorkshire).
I got a hardback book of smoothie recipes for 20p (St Theresa's Hospice, Thirsk) then struck treasure in the Salvation Army shop (also Thirsk). I'm really keen on all things to do with the clothes rationing endured by my Mum and millions of others during the second world war, and there was a scrapbook of magazine cuttings from that time with knitting patterns and hints of avoiding spending your coupons. £10, and it will come to me on a birthday very soon.

I am pea green with envy for the Fitflop boots especially as I plunged for a pair of their wellies in the sale not long ago.5

I had a chaz nightmare last night
I've arranged a furniture collection for today, and dreamt they were helping themselves to everything that I could get rid of but am hanging on to. Then the youngest made a remark to the effect they are not taking the best bits and they don't know why I need to visit a charity shop anyway
But it was only a dreamNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.8 -
Maybe your nightmare is a nudge to move on all the items you are hanging on to, Rosa? I’ve been meaning to sort through a few cupboards and pass on some unused bits to the chazzer, so your dream is the impetus I need to get this done today - thank you!I am still seeing lots of brand new items in local charity shops, unwanted Christmas gifts I assume. Yesterday I bought a few bits which will make excellent Christmas stocking fillers including a box of beautiful ‘Outer Space’ story stones for my granddaughter.
I have recently taken up the new hobby of glass fusing, so am on the look out for cheap coloured glass items to smash up and fire into something new, and interesting small ceramic items to use as moulds. In the very last chazzer I visited yesterday I happened upon a basket filled with several different shapes of dinky ceramic tableware (the lady in the shop thought they had been donated by a restaurant, and were intended to hold tiny amounts of seasonings) which were exactly what I had been looking for and at 10 for £1 were amazing value. I never cease to be amazed and delighted by the way the Chazzer Fairies deliver for us 😂😂9 -
I haven't been into a charity shop in over a week! I'm out in Southend today so I probably will pop into a few shops there. It is my friends birthday next week so I might look for a card and a present for her.2025 GOALS

Very proud of Youngest Son, who joined me photo frame hunting & quietly suggested buying an extra one that had the prop in place rather than us try to cobble a replacement. He’ll print the photo of his great-grandfather happily viewing his grandfather cradling an uncle (who died before I his mother was born) which will delight my mum, his grandmother. We left an entire plastic bag for life (of folded bags for life) with the charity shop staff in further thanks to the chazzer fairies!9
