I popped in to the local chazza close to my dentists where I have been buying the Bridgerton books for a friend. (A new one pope sup every fortnight and so far they have been in order) I didn’t find the next one but I did pick up 4 records, two ABBA, one My fair Lady (film) and a Jasper Carrott.5

Did a little trawl of the local chazzas today and got a Diane Von Furstenberg bottle green knitted thingy, might be called a 'coatigan'?, anyhoo it's 3/4 length, fitted with fancy gold/horn stylee big buttons down the front, as new and 100% double faced wool jersey so should be cosy, £12. Also got a big scarfy wrap thing with four blocks of patterns in cream/light beige shades, by 'Luxe', 70% viscose + 30% cashmere(!)
b/n and £1. Yesterday in the 99p shop in Otley I found a BNWT's white pure linen top by Dash, has a Nero stylee collar and bib sort of front embellished with fancy tapework, 99p!

My husband took our daughter into town yesterday to feed the ducks and swans. They walked past a charity shop and found a Julia Donaldson book called squash and a squeeze. Same author as The Gruffalo. It looks brand new only cost £1 and she absolutely loves it, had farm animals in it. She’s got I think 6 Julia Donaldson books now.:money::rotfl::T6

I had a fossick around the Oxfam shop on the way home this afternoon and found this drainer, £4.99, which is the larger size of the green one I've already got and find very handy so I snapped it up. I also pounced on a copy of the Bean Book, £2.99, as being useful during this period of rampant inflation. One of the friends with me commented on the price differentials between the local charity shops and told us about a new shop which has a terrific selection of books all priced at £1 so I'm planning an expedition to that end of town soon.
I also managed to get into the Barnardo's earlier in the afternoon only to be rather disappointed by the selection on offer, an awful lot of new toys in sealed boxes to take advantage of half-term and an odd display of folded remnants of upholstery fabric, so didn't buy anything and am now feeling it wasn't worth the effort. Hopefully my next visit will be more rewarding.

I bought a Hobbs knitted cotton dress for £1 pre-lockdown - smart enough for work. Then obvs WFH for 2 years! I'm wearing it today WFH with black opaque tights to see how it looks after hours of sitting down, before wearing in the office. Will need to invest in spanx or similar, but it looks good and for £1 owes me nothing!Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 17/25 Currently reading The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths9

I've resisted all sorts of trinkets in charity shops today but gave in to a piece of Rose and Hubble fabric (£1), a darning mushroom (£2) (both Sue Ryder) and a length of bias binding (50p) (PDSA). I did that thing where I go out of the shop and see if I still remember/want things later and unfortunately three other items are calling my name. Nothing expensive but all unnecessary and all clutter... just appealing.
I also noticed the Herriot Hospice shop has closed on Northallerton High Street. DH says I've killed it because I admitted I didn't go there much.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
