Shop Charity in '23!

I've been reading along for a while and mostly only shop in one charity shop (the one in the village) because I don't go anywhere else much, but I have had some great finds this year so I'm going to jump in and share my treasures:
A very large gold framed mirror £7
A pair of vintage pewter candle sticks £2.50 (rang the company that made them, they are from the 70s and were very expensive at the time)
4 x Edinburgh crystal champagne glasses unused and in their box £5
A box of candles for £5, it included around 80 candles for the candle sticks so I've used them every evening and loved them.
3 square bottles for 50 p each which look stunning in the bathroom with coloured bubble bath in and stoppers that I made from cork
Vintage choker necklace £2.50 that I absolutely love but it only really works if I wear it on top of a roll neck as it is too big really but I can't see me parting with it as I love it.
I've bought other stuff in there, it is a bit of joke with the ladies that I take in a bag to declutter and leave with a bag of treasures but the shop has the most wonderful sell it cheaply and quickly policy so their turn over is quick and I've often found things I love like the photo frame on the table 40p and so on.
Facebook Marketplace has been fun. My ex finally settled and I replaced virtually everything he took from Facebook Marketplace including a fabulous antique wooden table and 4 chairs £40, a daybed for the spare room that was free and an used king sized bedframe for £70 that I love and is so much nicer than the one he took.
Regrets: to make you laugh: a wedding dress £30. I have no idea what I was thinking LOLMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10 -
Was at the work Christmas do last evening and was pleased that when they had announced a few weeks back about Secret Santa that they specified that things didn't have to be new, that they could be second hand, used, regifted.
As it was I couldn't think of anything in the house that I wanted to give so went out and bought some Tewkesbury mustard (love it, realllllly hot!) and a IoW Garlic farm grinder filled with sea salt, pepper corns and dried garlic. Because I bought an extra something for the OH for Christmas I also got a free beeswax wrap which I included in the (recycled) gift bag. Chap that ended up with the gift loved getting the mustard and was fascinated by the beeswax wrap as he'd never seen one before.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I'm loving the treasures and some of the regrets.
@Floss, what an interesting article! The authors are each doing their own thing, which got me thinking. There's no one perfect way.
The one I related to was of course the one who learnt to mend, which is kind of my thing, and I realised I know one of the people it links to, slightly. She does felt art, it's beautiful. I have, however, entirely fallen for the 1950s style hollyhock embroidery used to mend the elbow of a jumper. I think it might be my next aspiration.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge I loved that too! I have recently darned moth holes in 2 chazzer bargain cashmere jumpers and patched & stitched a denim jacket but haven't been brave enough to do proper visible decorative mending.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Just bought a super king size bed spread for our king size bed, as I want it to hang down the sides to keep the warmth in. It's a gorgeous soft gold colour and was £10.Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without10

I wandered into Cancer Research today and spotted a very nice hard-cover book that I'd not heard of, about how to repair and conserve possessions. Just my sort of thing - so I've informed DH he's giving it me for Christmas.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Wore a recent chazzer find this evening to lots of compliments! The picture below doesn't actually do it justice, the shimmer all over matches the colour of the neck trim:
