Shop Charity in '23!

I have the clothes I was wearing - obviously - and DH said I could borrow from him but I’ve raided a charity shop call The Bridge in Jedburgh. It’s a tiny shop, the old cluttered style of charity shop and I love it! So much more interesting than a boutique-style. I got a couple of tee shirts from their £1 rail (a polo style and a Craghopper), some Shein jeans, an apparently new pair of PJs (Matalan), and a beautiful grey wooden wrap - all £3 each. For £4 I also got a merino wool cardigan.

I must forget my luggage more often. 😊

There’s also a Sue Ryder in Jedburgh but it was shut today. Later in the day we went into a big charity shop in Melrose, set out more like a Superdry than a charity shop. It’s the Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland shop, a bit more pricey than some but some very nice clothes. All I got was a china toad for £2.50. He was too sweet and unusual not to come home with me!

Oooooh nooooo!!  But well done you for being so resilient and resourceful.  (I would have just sat in a corner screaming and screaming like Violet Elizabeth Bott!)

I don’t know how’d I’d feel about that Cherryfudge. I expect after the initial stomach dropping and heart racing panic had passed I might think Oooh I’ve got a legitimate reason to buy all new clothes!! I mean when was the last time anyone could truly say that (Not including disasters etc.)

To be fair, overlockers are temperamental beasts that not even professional sewing-machine repairers can guarantee to fix (guess how I know...) Hope you can get it fixed.

My dedication to not buying (much) new continues: Sue Ryder in Jedburgh was open and I got an East chambray shirt for a fiver. I’m really pleased with it and what’s more, it has long sleeves so it’s better now the temperature has dropped.

They had a number of nice tops actually, but this was the only one that looked right on me.

Yay, got it up and running now, (much to my amazement!!!). The Bloke wired on a spare presser foot from his Man Shed which solved a problem and got it firing up, then I had a week of trying to thread the thing.  Ye Gods, how difficult is that!  Now got it chugging along nicely with 2 threads but can i billy-oh get it running with 3?  Nope!  Anyhoo the 2 thread version  looks OK and just getting that working felt like conquering Everest.  Will try again if and when my sanity is restored….. think the tension needs some tweaking here!

@Cherryfudge - leaving things behind is so easily done isn't it. I once returned from holiday to find my neighbours shaking their heads at me because I'd driven off leaving the key in the front door. In my defence I had loaded my bicycle and two daughters plus luggage for a week into the car but they all behaved as if I was wanting ever after. 
Anyway, I dropped into my favourite BHF shop this afternoon on the way to the library, which stays open until 8pm Monday to Thursday here, ever so convenient, and bought this cake tin, £2.50, and these two books, £2 each. I nobly resisted a rather scratched set of cake tins and a set of very lurid green bowls which wouldn't fit well in my fridge.

Across the pond so looking forward to rummaging the Reclaim shop as well as the Salvation Army Store - it's the size of your average Tescos so lots to look at.  Will be seeing what at mom's house is no longer required or wanted on the off chance that I can pack it with me.  Cleared out her scarves last year already so the 2 major items are the family silver (lovely Oneida silver cutlery set with about 100 pieces that might take up my luggage allowance on it's own.), Grandma's wedding Limoges (which I doubt I'll be able to ship safely or affordably) and paintings.  I'm owed 2 Louis Buret works but have yet to locate them.  There's also some of my dad's paintings and a few of my brother's that I might manage to get him to agree to me taking.  we shall see.
