Slightly off-topic but The Repair Cafe website is now much improved! https://www.repaircafe.org/en/ . I have a feeling The Repair Shop may have something to do with its increasing popularity. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Oh well spotted @Brie - hope your sil enjoys them.
I popped into my favourite BHF shop yesterday on my way to the library to collect a book I'd reserved and found several things I've been hoping to spot for a while; funny how that goes isn't it?
First I snapped up these two books as I've tried some online recipes by both authors and found them excellent and they were £2 each.
Then I had a look at the household bric-a-brac shelves and snapped up a Pyrex dish with a plastic lid £3.50, a jar of flower arranging marbles £1.99, some wooden hangers £2.50 and a nice jigsaw to put aside for bad weather amusement this coming winter £2.50.

@goldfinches , I have had that jigsaw and it’s a really interesting one with the characters from WW2. And the contrast with more modern times. I hope you enjoy it. Mine is now probably doing the rounds in deepest France.6

I’m wondering….how many salt pigs are too many salt pigs?!?!
Another one fell into my hands today for a bargain £3. They’re so useful for storing cleaning sponges etc…..✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I hadn't thought of using them like that and have spotted the odd one or two locally recently so might find a spot for one near my kitchen sink too.
I trekked to the Sobell House Hospice shop yesterday and found a never worn lightweight Land's End t-shirt in a pretty shade of coral that I thought would be ideal for the tropical weather we're having lately for £5.50 and some nice cake cases for 50p. Then I spotted a new to me Mercy in Action shop at the other end of the street so went down to investigate. It was rather self-consciously vintage with everything artfully arranged by colour and propped up prettily on shelves IYKWIM but I did find these four Rowan books at £1.50 each which was good value.

So long as they’re in use (salt, sponges, whatevers) - and you have the windowsill space, keep them coming. You know those bland Pearsons pots ‘celery’ & ‘beef dripping’ etc? Without moving I can see one windowsill with over 20 as each has a different thing in - dowel, stray knitting needles (bought for the metal), coffee stirrers, less than beautiful but still working scissors, clay & cake icing modelling tools, pencils, scalpels, toothpicks & so forth. Himself was born near the Pearsons pottery & enjoyed putting these abandoned pots to use.If you can stash domestic whatevers in a salt pig, go for it! Just don’t put the white granulated sugar next the salt lest there be strongly worded misunderstandings?8

@goldfinches just make sure they are glazed all the way down inside the pig if using it for soggy sponges etc. I do have one in the bathroom too for a quick wipe round the sink!
I’m liking the +1 theory too.@DigForVictory 😆 surprising I’ve never considered using them for sugar….. I do like a good earthenware pot too, there’s some very reliable about them.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

I've now decided I need a salt pig.
Alas, drizzly weather here this morning so I'm not attempting the Bedale car boot, if indeed it's running. Probably not since I seem to have bought half of it last week... I might get to Thirsk later.
I'm going to start the end of summer sort out and put some things away till spring. This doesn't create space as I then want the winter jumpers out, and they're far more bulky. I did put a last year's charity shop find to good use yesterday: a rather nice cardigan that had a small hole in one shoulder came to me on the first chilly day of autumn last year when I didn't have anything suitable with me on holiday. The shoulder repaired almost perfectly and I wore it over a summer dress yesterday to create a new and unexpected outfit. Goes to show that a swap round and a try on session can make an existing wardrobe go further.
My mission today is to go through the two boxes of yarn that I've not yet searched for oddments of aran. I have a wrist warmer pattern that I want to try and local charity shops just don't seem to have aran. And talking of yarn, what lovely set of finds, @goldfinches. Are you up for making a Kaffe Fasset? It's beyond my skill level but they're gorgeous.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
