I was able to spend precisely an hour poking around the chazzers in Woking - plenty of them, but I was sadly pressed for time. I did buy some bits - an oil burner, some pre-loved books from the big church in the centre of town (lovely bookshop and cafe within) and 4 dresses BoGoF - my sister has kindly relieved me of 3 of these
Also this BN in its original cellophane wrapping for £1 - which I thought might be very timely given events recently uncovered at the British Museum. According to the website it would sell at £39.99 if it wasn't out of stock!
Aside from chazzer-joy I got something else that was priceless in Woking - middle-aged happiness and pride in being British. It sounds very weird I know, but a number of cultural references sequenced together in the town and I realised what a lovely existence I lead.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Bedale car booty and charity shops and Thirsk car booty and charity shops today….just came away with a nice pair of b/n jeans £4 and a manicure set £2. The Thirsk booty had someone selling a load of Denby, for £50…a set of multi coloured pieces with big dishes and serving bowls plus plates and mugs. Attracted a lot of interest……9

M&S linen mix (56%) blazer from the Red Cross for only £5 today. Took the labels off before I left the shop and wore it over my jeans and t-shirt
Felt really lovely and great condition. Looking at similar items on the M&S website and nothing under £75 except for out of stock sale items. I must start popping in a bit more as you never know what you might find - had got a bit fed up recently of the prices of some items but this was definitely a bargain.

Youngest spotted identical vol likewise still sealed - I think I shall suggest a verification visit.. (Love the Economist headline "Now museum, now you don't..." - I may suggest 'museum auditor' to Youngest as a career path we neither of us spotted that is clearly needed!)12 -
@Miró, I wondered whether we passed in Thirsk! It was quite busy... we probably need a secret signal, but it might get us thrown out.
DH and I did the round of the charity shops: is there one less than there used to be? We also finally got drinks and cake in that lovely bookshop café which has always been about to shut on previous visits. DH got an antique copy of Martin Chuzzlewit and an interesting framed picture (£7 total) and I got an orange throw (Dunelm) for a fiver. Some lovely clothes on the charity shop sale rails, but I have too many already.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I caught the bus up the hill to the very charity shop heavy suburb today and did brilliantly for clothes, fairly well for books and drew an absolute blank for kitchen bits; very peculiar the way things go sometimes.
Anyhow, I bought these two books, the smaller of which is a Persephone Classic so I was very pleased to find it at £1.99.
Then I bought M&S trousers and a Land's End top both for £6.99, three pairs of summer weight chinos, a short-sleeved polo and an East dress followed by 2 belts and a Joules top. Some of them show up well in these photos!

Woodfield is planning to open again on Monday as it's a Bank Holiday but I can't be there as DH has work and it's too far under my own steam. I think it's 1pm again.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
