This has been a fd regular saver and it matures this month  Planned to coincide with supporting my daughter's student maintenance being due in January. I didn't manage to put away any extra though, so slightly short of my target for this year.

I'm not going to sign up for the 2024 challenge, too much uncertainty. Our house is on the market and we've seen one we would like to buy. If it goes to plan (which doesn't seem likely given all the stories we hear about chains and wotnot), we won't have to take out a new mortgage. Which is just as well because I did the affordability check and the amount I was deemed good for, was shockingly low. I was far too honest about my outgoings. Having a young adult on your car insurance, their student living allowance payments, etc really impacts things. Being declined is probably doing us a huge favour though. No payments going forwards and living well within our means. I was also so cheesed off by the experience that I will also change banks once we are moved and bag a £200 new customer win. It will be goodbye bank after 2 decades :|

Thanks for running the challenge julicorn
