  • Original mortage taken out in Dec 2026 of £105k for 25 years.

Just overpaid by £10.5k (10%) taking total overpayments to £52.5k.

Outstanding balance of £26,950 over 5 yrs 7 months.

I'm hoping that I can put another £6-7k in January and then another £10.5 next October at the start of mortgage year. I'm really hoping I can pay it off in the next 2 years which would mean I've paid off my mortgage in 8 years give or take.

It's not been easy of course, we've been very stingy with a lot of things, no new fancy cars, no big holidays, lots of cheaper shopping. But neither me or my spouse regret overpaying.
