Hi there - New forum member here and would like to join the 2023 challenge to keep me on the 'straight and narrow'. I realise I'm joining part-way through the year, but hopefully I'll be allowed?.
I recently paid off my Help to Buy Loan and re-fixed my mortgage. I'm on a 5 year fixed term of 3.94%.
I've just finished running a few estimations: The mortgage is for 22 years, and if I made ZERO additional payments I would pay it off in 21.5 years / 256 months. However, I plan on making overpayments each month and this way I will pay it off in 11 year / 132 months, saving £34,419 in interest.
I made my first overpayment today of £659.Save £12k in 2025
