Bulb Energy bill looks like i am being over charged !

At the start of the year I was moved to bulb and as i had an outstanding debit i was put on a PAYG meter and have had no end of problems with them trying to explain the bill
all the following number are off the bill and for the last months billing cycle
The debit has reduced by £22 this month

The electric bill summary on the 3rd page reads as follows
Opening meter balance £5.18
Total electricity costs for this period £387.59
Total electricity top ups for this period £639.00
Final meter balance £1.50

So is it me or should i be £240 ish in credit ?

For the gas

Total gas costs for this period £188.03
Total gas top ups for this period £340.00
0 credit

so £150 ish in credit ?

the last 6 bill have been like this , all they say is it a PAYG meter and you pay for what you use !!!!!!!

    Standing charge?
(50p ish per day electricity? 28p ish per day gas?)

It should still state the units/kwh used and the cost for each of those.

How much was your debt as the difference could be the repayment of that debt.

It does seem a little peculiar that there has only been a £22 drop in the amount owing with the amounts topped up.

You have got a previous debt of £970 on the meter. The problem is that you are only paying that off at about £10 a month. At that rate it will take you about 9 years to clear the debt. What debt repayment rate was agreed when the PPM was installed?
You haven't posted the gas bill, but presumably the same thing applies-you have substantial debt on each supply,
Contact your supplier and agree a more realistic debt recovery on the PPM.
Your lecy usage is quite high for a property that presumably has gas CH and DHW?

  • OK - I'm curious then. As the OP has paid £639 in top-ups (I assume that perhaps that includes £132 of government help?) but only used electricity to a cost of £387.59, with a debt reduction of £44, there is a discrepancy of £207.41 - should that not still be appearing as credit on the meter, OR have reduced the debt by that amount? I may be completely missing a point which is obvious to those who are familiar with PP meters - apologies if so!

Even if you disregard the meter debt, the figures don't make sense.

It's almost as if they are missing a read on the meter from the 17th Dec?
