  • Thursday already, wow this week has gone quick.
I'm working from home today so no rushing about this morning. I need to pop out later on to do 2 MS and to get some potatoes and eggs for dinner but appart from that I don't plan on leaving the house all day. I'm making fish pie for tea, not at all a favourite of DH but there some fish pie mix been sitting in the freezer a while now that needs using so he's going to have to suck it up.
We spent £70 on some blinds for the kitchen yesterday, there was no budget for it so any extra money will have to go to that this month. It needed to be done though, birds keep flying into the window and on Tuesday evening it resulted in DH having to make a trip to the local bird rescue centre. I think they are nesting in the bushes in the front garden, when I go out in the morning about 50 little sparrows fly out of there and theres always a cat hanging under them too.

I never rounded up July so here it is

    Total paid off debt £1706.54
Savings (includes holidays, EF, everything!!) £1848.88
I have £36 on my Asda Reward Card, £28 on Coop Card and £17 on Nectar, all getting saved for Christmas.

The dog is queitly squeaking by the side of me, telling me its breakfast time so I better get moving. Have a great day!!
Total debt when my journey began in December 2022- £66,133.42
    Current debt May 2024- £40,064.57
    Repaid 39.42%

Wow you have achieved a massive amount in July! That’s a huge amount of both debt payments and savings! Can’t believe it’s already August, the years flying past as usual x

Have you seen the new Asda Rewards thing... if you "Bank" £40 in a different pot on the app they will give you an extra £5 for Christmas?
  • A late check in today, I've been up since 5:30 and only now finding the chance to sit down.
I've had a full day in work and completed 3 mystery shops and I have a jam packed day of them tomorrow as well. I think the weather has to be bad tomorrow but DH is going to drive me around so I can just jump out of the car.
I may have some not so MSE news tomorrow. We are still in discussion so I'll keep you posted.

  • So my not very MSE news became a reality today. We booked to go to Florida in November as well as April!! I feel so bad but on the other hand I don't. A work colleagues sister died this week, 47 years old, 5 years older than me. completely unexpected, no known health issues and all I can think is life is too short!! We are going on a budget, well as budget as you can do Disney. Flights cost us £519 as I had a reward voucher expiring in December and plenty of points. £888 for a basic value resort on Disney. We will be getting an annual pass so we won't need tickets next April and we are attempting to do the entire week with £1k spending money. I'm hoping to get all the spending money from extra money I make. Its mad and debt repayment will slow down but I will not be adding to my debt.

I've been out all day MS and made £55, got £15 of groceries reimbursed. I also used £35 Asda reward as I had a not realised they expire so got the weekly shop for £8!!

How exciting for you!! I totally agree that you have to live, life cannot be all about paying bills and debts, as long as your not adding to debt that is all that matters I think xx

  • Wow, I have been totally rubbish at updating this week. I have had the most full on week of work. Been the busiest week since I started with the company 13 years ago. I'm just north of Glasgow which is a very long way from South Wales and I have the nice 8 hour journey back home tomorrow. That's just travelling time, doesn't even include stops. Home for 1 day to do it all over again on Sunday.
Money wise, theres nothing to report. I've picked up the odd survey but been  far too busy in work to look at my laptop too much. I do have a couple of MS on Saturday and will also have a lot of washing to do too!!

  • It's very money saving to have a job!
That does sound brutal though, hope you're being well-rewarded for it. Are you driving or getting trains?
  • I'm driving, its 410 miles, I have a company car and get 15p a mile so I should really be making money on the fuel as I can get up to 80 miles per gallon.
